Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The woman at the tourist office was super helpful: making a call for us to a boat charter company, urging us to see their history exhibit, and pointing out places to visit on the map. It is located by the water and we had to ask two people before we finally found our way there, but it was so worth the stop.

Not being blessed with a whole pile of good places to eat around Youghal a friend suggested we try the Bistro in The Golf Club. Not being a golfer I was a little worried about the potential luck of welcome for a ‘stranger’ - I was wrong. It’s very relaxed, very friendly and the most gorgeous views from high of Youghal Bay and the mouth of the Blackwater out into the Atlantic. Lovely warm room and bar area and REALLY great food. In actual fact I had Lamb shank which was as melt in the mouth tender and tasty as any I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Well done chef 👏👏👏👏 EXCELLENT

Firstly staff very helpful & friendly. Lifeguards very attentive. Kids happy with pool. Now the negatives, place needs good clean probably looked more dirty as lot needs upgrading & fixing including tiling which looks old & dirty. Some showers & toilets out of use, mushroom thing that should spray water not working in kids pool.

We set out at 10am on a Monday morning recently with Skipper Tony. His boat takes 12 passengers. We had beautiful weather all the time during our trip. Every so often Tony would stop and explain the history of the river and the castles on its shores which was very interesting. He explained that Youghal had been hit by a tsunami in the 800s which changed the course of the river and the coastline. We traveled as far as Villierstown where we landed and had coffee. The trip back was just as enjoyable. It should be taken at high tide which means that muddy banks are hidden. Our visit concluded at 2pm.

We went for a trip up the blackwater today with a jolly man called Tony. I had a really enjoyable experience. Tony stopped the boat to give us a brief history lesson about the surrounding areas. I really enjoyed the trip from start to finish. Very affordable and the views were breathtaking. It was lovely to see the salmon jumping in the sunshine from the water.
