It takes about 45mins to walk the track alongside the loch to reach the castle. It looks the part with its stone turrets and fire in the entrance hall. The gardens were colourful when we visited in mid June. The walled veg garden looked particularly well cared for. And there was plenty of colour in the formal grounds. The views up to the loch head are stunning from the overhanging waterside patio.

There’s a bus back if you don’t want to walk. Watch out for midges in the tearoom courtyard!

First time hike for myself although my partner is a fan!! ...I had kitted myself out with some hiking boots, walking poles and layers recommended by previous experienced walkers...as everyone notes the first 30 mins was tough going through boglnd which involved choosing your steps very carefully to avoid being sucked into the wet bog!!!
Once we had managed to get through that stage it was o to the slippery shale which provided its own set of challenges ...was it tough ...yes ...was it worth it ..100%...we had lunch 751metres above and the views were amazing ...photos really do not do it justice when you see those views for yourself!!!.

Very knowledgeable & enthusiastic guide Jean. Despite us not knowing anything about Derek Hill she managed to make the visit inspiring & really enjoyable. The history of the house & the collection itself is very interesting & some lovely pieces. Nice gardens & tea rooms. Didn’t linger in the gallery space as it was very modern art installation! Overall well worth a visit.

Visited the mill on a rainy day in june. Expecting to pay but pleasantly surprised as it is free entry. We were told we were the first visitors since it's re opened post pandemic. Great place to visit, full of history and educated us. Unfortunately coffee shop not open yet and were told of the plans for the rest of the restoration of the mill and adjoining shop and other origional features. Will be an excellent museum when completed. Well worth a visit.

Visited the theatre on 11th November for The Lost Brothers concert. It was just a fantastic evening of beautiful music and the venue had strict Covid prevention procedures in place ie social distancing inside the theatre and inspection of Vaccination Certs and wearing of masks. Recommend it to everyone 🙂

Well worth a visit, this small museum is curated by friendly and helpful staff. There are a good range of exhibits for all the family to enjoy, particularly upstairs and the downstairs displays rotate regularly.

Waited to inquire about tours until arrival in Letterkenny. Found out that tours on different schedule then summer. They gladly excepted us on tour for next day. Extremely clean bus and Paddy was the best driver- guide. Collection of guests from hotels and drop off at end of tour is a delight. Would recommend this tour company to anyone in the Donegal area.

I visited mccaffertys with a group of friends and I have to say it lived up to the hype. Several cool bars under the one roof. And great pints as well. Thumbs up.
