Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- go9ersBillericay, UK909 contributionsOne of the highlights of our Irish trip. A short boat trip from the pier at Glengarriff takes you to the island but first having a slight detour to see the seals. The island itself is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours with beautiful gardens. - DianevswindonSwindon, UK44 contributionsWould highly recommend Beara boat tours Kevin and Jen were excellent hosts. Even though my family are from Beara I learnt some great new facts. It would be ideal for families . We stopped a few times to fish , the whole boat got involved. Jen kept us hydrated with tea , coffee and ginger biscuits , which were not required as it was a lovely calm day xWritten 7 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LMSPLondon231 contributionsExcellent well marked and maintained walks of different lengths and to suit different abilities. We did one of the longer and slightly more challenging ones up the hill behind the car park - spectacular views over the woods and out to sea. Combines very well with a trip to Garinish Island.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard T1 contributionWhat a great place, lots of lovely paths and a great walk along the bay, loved the small bridge and the views to the harbour. Took loads of photos well worth a visit.
The toilets were not open but no bother as a great pub just down the road.
We read the reviews prior to going and these seem very unfair, we had a great time and one of us is disabled and managed the paths no worries at all.
Very safe and a young family would have great fun running and hiding in all of the paths

- CorkCoupleCork, Ireland243 contributionsDecided to visit Garnish on a gorgeous September day. Bought my ticket at a very friendly ticket van. Asked if dog okay and explained ferry was fine, but had to remain on leash on the island. He was on leash & staying so, but I thought it was very nice to inform me.
Ferry was on time. 2 guys working it were lovely. One very chatty and smiley, the other quieter, but made sure we got views and photo opportunities for the basking seals on way out.

It is in the middle of the valley, 5KM from Glengariff up the very narrow road (well sign posted). Greawarm and spacious wooden cabin, very clean facilities. Lovely gift shop with locally made gifts. Very friendly owners who will advise on walks and places in the area. Perfect stop by for walkers.Written 2 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Giuseppe SAntwerp, Belgium837 contributionsI have been recently to the SugarLoaf in Rio and when I have seen there is a SugarLoaf at Glengarriff I just could not resist and had to walk on it. - Anne DoranCork, Ireland343 contributionsA lovely church with amazing stained glass windows and fabulous statues, including wooden statues of St Killian and St Maximillian Kolbe. Nice stop to rest for a while and be in a place of quietness. A Marian grotto is very close by on the road and the graveyard and former church is across the road.Written 2 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anne DoranCork, Ireland343 contributionsSlightly off the beaten track, a place of beauty and peace from the crowds on the main street. There are walkways around here as well as a swimming area. This is also the place where the ferry leaves to go to the Garinish Island.
