Such a lovely museum. Both my 10 and 6 year old boys loved it. We went with their grandmother so it was a lovely experience to go back in time together. Charlie was so welcoming and a fabulous guide, he has a great knowledge of all the displays. Highly recommend it was a unique experience 👌

We had so much fun and never laughed as much. My son was delighted to meet one of his favourite people that happened to be there as well 😉
Class family time kids loved it and we are thinking to be back next weekend again!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to your Pet farm yesterday with my grandson Rowan , who held the rabbits and fed the animals and really had great fun in the playgrounds especially The Maze & the swings/slides on a sunny day , the premises looked great along with the animals.

The interior of this church is very beautiful. It is worth visiting to see the columns, if nothing else. They are made of a gorgeuos green stone called Connemara marble, from an area northeast of Athlone. It's a real showcase for this unique geological material.

Great spot right on the Shannon. Wide selection of food (with plenty of veggie options) and drinks. Great American IPA in particular! Friendly, attentive staff. Well worth a visit

My husband and I stopped at the Heritage Centre on our way to find the nearby Dolmen. The cente is only one room but contains lots of information about the local community, the heritage sites, the impacts of the famine and even some information about the Titanic given there were survivors that travelled from Athlone. Anton, one of the staff was very friendly and helpful, taking us around the room and reciting some interesting stories and answering our questions. St. Brigids Well sits just behind the old church so make sure not to miss out. It is a quaint little centre with lots of history to tell so not to be missed.

A lovely walk that has a combination of river, canal and meadow walks.
An easy walking path that is 99% flat.
some of the areas of the walk were closed and no proper signage was put in place to know it. So bear in mind you might end up walking back in the same path rather than finishing the loop.

Beautiful sunny Sunday morning breakfast at Fernhill. When we arrived there was quite a long queue but it moved pretty quickly. Ordered breakfast and were seated at a lovely table in the sun by a smiling happy staff member. Our food arrived piping hot and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit and will definately return. Wonderful display of freshly made desserts & cakes which we will try next time. Staff are pleasant and extremely helpful which is always nice to see. Well done Fernhill & Savory Fare👏🏻👏🏻🤗

The gallery is located on the river and the light pouring in through the glass lined corridor is stunning in itself.

The gallery features different local artists and is well worth a visit. Some beautiful thought provoking pieces on display.

Their is currently no admission charge.

Loved the atmosphere, the people, the whiskey and Guinness of which I still order today. And will see you again in October 2025. This is a must see place if your willing to sit down and have a pint and enjoy the conversation with the people of Ireland.
