Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful little chapel, well worth a visit. The views are truly spectacular.
There are some curious reviews on this website, awarding fewer than five stars because the walk up to the chapel is not very well signposted, and there are some tracks that peter out! Difficult to understand how the chapel is responsible for this. Consulting online maps is never failsafe... be prepared! It is a steep, yet very rewarding, climb if you avoid the main road.
Other reviewers have awarded fewer than five stars because the chapel is closed when they arrive. A simple online check documents the daily opening times.
This is a lovely walk (both up and down), to a chapel with memorable views.

My wife and I are currently visiting Calvi - staying at the delightful Hostellerie de L’Abbaye (Review to follow) - and earlier today we visited the famous Citadel.

Indeed, it’s difficult to come to Calvi and not to spend at least some time in the Citadel. Best to do so - as we did - with a guide to provide some historical perspective but, if not, there are some interesting things to see and some great views of both the Port and surrounding areas.

Something - in my opinion - not to be missed!!

A very nice ruins of an old village about 30 minutes walk away from Lumio (the path starts behind the hotel A Casa di Mà), on a pretty steep path. You'll need good shoes and water on sunny days.

We had discovered this charming little place while walking, very beautiful view and the color of the water was turquoise.

A bit hidden in Lumio - on the road between L’Ile-Rousse and Calvi – this bio wine house is producing excellent wines. After a bumpy ride from the main road through the vineyards, you get to a modern and arty tasting area where the tasting (and buying) can be done at the reception.
We were especially impressed by the different good quality rosés. The biggest part of their yearly production stays within the Corsican island and we indeed found their wines back on the wine card of some respected restaurants in Calvi and Ajaccio.
If requested, a tour is also possible although this was rather limited.

I took an early morning walk for a few kilometres along the well-maintained boardwalk that runs alongside the beach and the railway line, then walked back along the beach. I finished with a swim just near Marco Plage. How lovely to swim with a view of the Citadel.
The tide was out, and the water wasn’t very deep – this would be excellent for families with young children!
I was impressed to see municipal workers out and about very early emptying bins and recycling containers and keeping the whole area presentable.

We were advised to go to the beach called Plage de l’Alga and took the road along the peninsula. It’s very rough – we ended up abandoning our car and walking a few kilometres to the beach as we were concerned we would damage the underbody of the car.
We saw lots of people cycling and hiking the peninsula on well-marked trails, something I’d like to do next time. Dry and rocky with coastal bushy vegetation, but stunning views of the beautiful blue sea, with the bonus of being able to cool off at the beach when finished.

My wife and I are currently visiting Calvi - staying at the delightful Hostellerie de l’Abbaye (Review to follow) and earlier today we visited the nearby (15 minute walk) Citadel.

One of the key attractions is the Cathedral of St Jean Baptiste which is somewhere every visitor should spend 10-15 minutes admiring both the many artefacts but to take some time taking in the peaceful/welcoming ambiance. Enjoy!!

This is a very attractive church from the outside, although outdoor dining blocks the perfect view. Inside, it’s cool and very pretty. The tile work on the floor, the religious art – well worth a short visit. You could also escape some of the bustling tourist crowds in the surrounding streets.

We often visit winery during our holidays while travelling around. We are passionated about wine and its production, and after visiting a lot of various, all kind winery in Italy, France, Slovenia, ect, and even China, I have to say it, this was the best visit we had.
Mr. and Mrs. Spurr welcomed us in a very familiar way, they are both kind and they both know very well how to explain their work.
Mrs Spurr is one of the more prepared person, she could answer all out question, gives us a lot of tips and information and maybe she make us more curious on wine that how we were.
A great experience, also very goos wines.

I hope to visit them again whan their new place would be completed.
