To celebrate our wedding anniversary we booked a tour at Wentworth Woodhouse. We were married in wentworth and used to live nearby so had watched the house decay over the years. It was great to see such a lot of restoration completed, a very splendid house with a sad past (open cast mined up to the door and three earl’s dying within a few years of each other so crippled by 80% death duties!) The guides were knowledgeable and friendly, the morning wentworth tour had slightly overlapping information with the afternoon black diamond tour, but both were interesting and informative. As children we went into the house when it was a PE college, so seeing the marble floor in the grand ball room rather than the wooden badminton court that covered it was eye opening. We had afternoon tea in the long gallery, again lovely staff, fabulous surroundings and great food (we had the savoury version, which was delicious, with Prosecco as we were celebrating!) We then had a pleasant wander around the gardens up to the newly renovated Camilla house. Screens were being set up for an open air cinema later, I wish we were still local and could have stayed.
I can thoroughly recommend the house as a good day out, especially if you are interested in local history or just fancy a special afternoon tea.

Clifton Park in Rotherham proved to be an exceptional venue for The Reytons' all-day festival. The park's spacious and well-maintained grounds provided an ideal setting for the event, accommodating the lively crowd with ease. The atmosphere was electric, enhanced by the abundance of food and drink options catering to all tastes. The park's layout facilitated smooth movement and access to various stalls and amenities, ensuring a comfortable experience for all attendees. Overall, Clifton Park showcased its versatility and charm, making it a fantastic choice for large-scale events and live music. I hope they do more.

As you get unlimited visits for a year with your initial entrance I have taken my 10 year old nephew twice this year. He loves the place but because of the fact it's an old steel works. He loves the vastness and the history of the building. We are planning to go back in the summer holidays so we can do the steelworks tour.
As a science adventure centre it sadly doesn't reach it's full potential. If you're going with younger children who just want to run round pressing buttons it's fine. It's a real shame as it could be so much more. There needs much more aimed at the older children and more made of the old steelworks element. The big melt - a hourly show based around the electric furnace is a bit of a light touch and could be so much better.
The food is reasonably priced and hot food cooked to order.

The park is vast and there is a huge amount going on especially associated with water sports. I visited to visit the little miniature railway. Not the most excitin but a very good length of track and so quite a long ride. Fairly straight with loops at each end and for the moment little of excitement being passed. I feel it will get better as the lineside matures - hopefully. Staff absolutely delightful. Doesnt operate in poor weather.

We had a wonderful day at the farm with my young daughter and could not recommend it enough for families. The trail, animals, play areas and staff were fantastic and made such a wonderful family day out. Can't wait to come back again.

Parked in the village car park and started our walk at the church. On to the Main Street where we called at the village shop. There is a tearoom and a couple of pubs along with the post office. Nice walk along the lane behind the cricket field and past the windmill house. Went on to Wentworth Woodhouse and eventually up to Hoober Stand. Lovely walk.

It all depends on what you want from here. If it’s a lovely walk around a Great Lake and wildlife in abundance then this is for you. However check with the place and if they answer your phone call you will be able to find out what the council have shut down this week for a couple of weeks. Sorry but very poorly managed

Thought I'd take my husband who'd never been before, and I'd told him of the 2 headed kitten (which hasn't really got 2 heads, but 2 bodies) we weren't disappointed. A friendly member of staff got chatting to us and relayed alot of the house/museum history, like our own personal guide- fantastic. Had a great morning. Thank you

Fascinating ruins to explore, this must have been a huge complex of buildings when it was functioning, possibly rivalling Fountains or Rievaux. We spent a peaceful hour or so exploring the layout, and enjoyed a picnic lunch by one of the waterways flowing through the site. There’s plenty of seats dotted around, and limited refreshments at the entry house. The direction signage off the main road is a bit cryptic, and the final stretch to the rough car park area is down a steep, single track uneven stone flagged lane. Take care on this. The final arrival and first prospect of the ruins make it well worth it though. There is a public footpath round two sides of the site, so you can see some of it for free. But pay the money and go in, it’s much better.

Lovely place for a short dog walk. It's about 2.4 mile all the way around or you can add about a mile on by going through the village and down through the fields. Can't help but think there's a huge opportunity missed for a small cafe at the sailing club. Even if it was only open at weekends, dog walkers alone would keep it busy.

This was a trip that was organised at the start of the year. And after a good summer and fantastic start to September. Who would have guessed it a washout.
But what a surprise we had what a wonderful day it was. OK the rain didn't help but this place is amazing the cafe with lovely coffee tea and cakes scones. All homemade and absolutely divine. This place is very fairly priced, and very homely. We had a homemade soup of the day and a roll. And all made from produce from there own gardens. We finished of with buying some home made jam. The staff are all volunteers working hard to keeping everything running perfectly. An amazing place for all, A big thank you to all at the amazing
    Windthrop Gardens.

Refreshing change to have a variety of choices when you have a milk allergy and knowledgeable and friendly staff happy to do dairy free alternatives for you.
