Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Debbie GAuckland Central, New Zealand22 contributionsMenu small but view fantastic. Did have a gluten free option. Think limited range cafe, not restaurant. Try and get a window seat.Written 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ERM123456789West Yorkshire, UK14 contributionsBeautiful views from a boat. Booked a tour with 'Polar adventures'. They were so friendly. Would definitely recommend to book with them. When on boat wrap up warm and go outside to take in all the beautiful views! Surreal to see the mountains covered in snow, under blue skies in such calm seas. Stunning experience!Written 30 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Izzie89Ålesund, Norge36 contributionsIt’s not a large museum but it has loads of nice exhibitions (sea animals amongst others). It also covers a lot of the polar exhibitions from Norway (Amundsen and Nansen), which might be interesting for some to dive deeper into. For the children the stuffed seals might be fun to look at, but it’s probably more interesting for older children overall with all the readings and history.Written 6 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wendy HWokingham, UK1,711 contributionsWorth a visit
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and stayed about 2.5 hrs. There is a lot of information available and the three films are worth watching, especially the Svalbard one ( where we were travelling on to). The facts presented on global warming do make sobering reading.
We attended the seal feeding session which was lovely to watch. There seems a good rapport between the trainers and the seals. I'm not a fan of any animal in (unnecessary) captivity but the seals here are well looked after and seem very content. One of the trainers/researcher was very happy to answer questions at length and was knowledgeable. I hope the French seal visitor settles in well when he arrives!!
Currently there is building happening to extend the museum which will include a new outdoor pool for the seals. Thus there is some noise.Written 20 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dougal911Perth and Kinross, UK54 contributionsWe visited the nearby Tromso University Museum, and had been recommended this area to visit. It was October and about 3/4oC, but what a view south towards majestic snow covered mountains.
There are fully constructed footpaths, with areas to sit, have a picnic or bbq. We got the no. 40 bus to the area, and made the 40 minute walk back to the city centre, which in parts follows the shoreline.
It was our last day, but had we fould it sooner, would have used this place to look for the Aurora at night, as there is too much light polution in the city.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LK LeungHong Kong, China15 contributionsVery lucky to have visited on a sunny day. About 1 hour drive + ferry ride from Tromso. It offers epic views on a clear day, and much less crowded than the city. Snowmobiling tour or skiing tour with guide strongly recommended, as the best scenic areas are off-road. It is also worth to spend more days in the area for exploring on foot. Do note that weather can change rapidly or deteriorates quickly on any day, so always check the weather and avalanche forecast before heading out.Written 14 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a half hour walk (uphill) from the centre of Tromsø. The roads are really well lit but shoe spikes might be advisable.
I was really lucky as got to experience an hour of ever changing lights the night that I went.Written 27 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lithlithMichigan918 contributionsWe knew this was a touristy experience going into it. Basically they give you a poncho like coat and a pair of gloves and then open the door to essentially a large walkin freezer. There are all sorts of ice sculptures and you will have the opportunity to take all sorts of fun photos! We purchased tickets online, which was slightly discounted from buying in person. We went for the two drink option as it was a better value. When we arrived there were only two other couples, and when we left, it was just us. It's a weird bar experience to have so few people there, however, it was perfect for being able to take all of the fun photos we wanted all over the place.Written 24 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maarit P11 contributionsEasy to book, perfect hot Finnish sauna, friendly service, and wonderful views. Water was good for swimming. Only minus for the missing lockers and doors that did not lock. We got the entire sauna for ourselves at 9 pm on Saturday.Written 28 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
