Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- HIremath RBengaluru, India20 contributionsFabulous place, do jot miss the experience. Visit it in the evening to see the whole of Tromso lighting up after dusk, it is magical.Written 11 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Igor5 contributionsVisited several fjords around Tromso and in Senja, hiking along them or up the hills. Their grandeur and serenity, the birds and waterfalls are just gorgeous.Written 3 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LovemyAcura🌵Phoenix15,311 contributionsSome of the realities of the past ways of killing animals is difficult to see but thankfully not practiced anymore. Small museum - watch your head in spots. I was here on a cruise excursion and local guide was difficult to hear. I asked the girl at the desk (who immediately "got her back up") for a guide in English that I saw others carrying. She became very unfriendly and said when you cannot have one when you are with a guide. Really? All the signage was in Norwegian and couldn't hear my guide! She could have cared less. Only unfriendly person I have met in Norway so won't forget her and her attitude.Written 6 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EritschZurich, Switzerland13 contributionsThe tourist information is great - people are super friendly and helpful!
The only reason i gave only 4 out of 5 is the coffeeshop - that’s a rip off and the quality is mediocre (at least if you have tried the Scandinavian bakerys before)Written 9 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The views are incredible and the staff does a fabulous job with the upkeep of these plants and gardens.Written 3 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura BGilbertsville, PA15 contributionsMy son and I visited this museum in June on our own. The museum has various rooms, each dedicated to a different theme. These themes included geology, wildlife, the Northern Lights, Sami culture, life at a boarding school, religious artifacts, and local history of WWII. We went primarily for the Sami culture While other exhibits had English captioning, the Sami culture captioning was in what I assume was Norwegian and Sami. A tour group came through and we eavesdropped in on a vary interesting explanation of the exhibit. The museum did offer a tour but it was in the afternoon and we were there in the morning. You can get a discount on tickets if you purchase both this museum and the Polaris one. There is a bus in town that will drop you off at the museum that goes through the town center if you don’t have a vehicle and prefer not to walk.Written 28 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Something TookishCheyenne, WY3,090 contributionsActually looks like white, tipped over dominos. It is a relatively small aquarium though the displays are well done and interesting. They have a pool with trained seals which perform regularly. There is a theater which plays several videos.Written 3 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hjo_HostelBjorke, Norway12 contributionsWe were there on a tour with The Green Adventure, really beautiful place and nice beach. We will never forget this arctic picnic in this village.Written 1 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LK LeungHong Kong, China5 contributionsVery lucky to have visited on a sunny day. About 1 hour drive + ferry ride from Tromso. It offers epic views on a clear day, and much less crowded than the city. Snowmobiling tour or skiing tour with guide strongly recommended, as the best scenic areas are off-road. It is also worth to spend more days in the area for exploring on foot. Do note that weather can change rapidly or deteriorates quickly on any day, so always check the weather and avalanche forecast before heading out.Written 14 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Birgitta-KennethSolna, Sweden1,382 contributionsI must admit I prefer the old school churches made of tree compare to the new ones . - Joanna42 contributionsGood spot for bird watching - if you're interested in that, I recommend to check it out. Other than the seagulls and ducks, there's ruffs, great blue herons and arctic terns. The views were pretty nice as well. There's benches and picnic tables, and an easy path going around the lake, but getting there can be a bit of an uphill walk.
Also, there's quite a lot of mosquitoes there in the summer so I'd recommend bringing an anti-insect spray.Written 23 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EmeraldDivaVictoria, Australia3,558 contributionsWe were on a tour of the fjords and popped in here for an afternoon snack of waffles. It is really cute and quirky place in a lovely location. Their are pieces of glass art work and jewellery for sale. The dining area is very cosy, very homely and the freshly cooked waffles and hot chocolate were lovely on a cold, cold day.Written 26 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simon LMelbourne, Australia6 contributionsWe had the pleasure of having Jonas as our tour guide (knowledgeable, vibrant and tried his hardest to ensure the best chance of seeing the northern lights going so far as to continuing searching on the road trip back while everyone was asleep) and Thomas as our driver (who ensured we safely and swiftly to and from our destination). We were lucky to see the green lady on night one but not so much on night two. Jonas took photos throughout the night that will allow us to look back at those memories.
Would rec going min 2 nighta to maximise chance of seeing the lights. We went in Sep.Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
