Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great to visit, audio guide very useful. Lots of rooms to see at your own pace, a glimpse into the splendour of the Hapsburg Empire

The size of the gardens is huge.

    They are truly vast.

The zoo is located in the gardens of the palace.

It is a 20-minute walk to get to the other end of the gardens, but the view back is well worth it.

    A must do

It is a fantastic zoo with a large array of animals.

There were lots of animals out even though it was cold.

The zoo is very ineratcive. We got to see tigers being fed, which was great.

The signs are clear, but the map helps a lot, too.

This is the world's oldest zoo, and it is in great shape still with lots of interesting animals.

If you are only doing Vienna use u-bahn instead of car. Car parking here is expensive and had to find. No hassles with U-bahn. maps are color coded for easy of use. Use online app to get best deals for length of stay. Honor system means you bought a ticket before you got on train. If caught with no ticket it is a 110 euro fine with no appeal. You can get anywhere you want in Vienna using public transportation. It runs late into the night and I think overnight on weekends (check to be sure)

This is a very fascinating museum highlighting many of Vienna's Imperial Carriages, and it has a lot of history.

There is a fantastic Christmas Market thats held at Schönbrunn Palace and on our last day in Vienna this was were we started our day off.
This has got to be the best back-drop for a Christmas Market you are likely to get. With many stalls selling everything you can think of to do with Christmas.
We visited late in the morning and we were surprised how busy it was.We visited on the first day it opened and we stayed a couple of hours.
When we went here we had a few Glühwein drinks and a few snacks. The Glühwein were superb as was the snacks and price wise it was on a par with other Christmas Markets we went to on our six day trip in Vienna.
A brilliant Christmas Market and very easy to find from Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop it's a minutes walk away.(This is my first review of Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market).
    Opening Hours.
    Monday-Sunday-10.00-22.00.
    Public Transport.
    U-Bahn Stop.
    Schönbrunn u-bahn stop.

Today we went to the Lainzer Tiergarten and this time it wasn’t that difficult to find a place to park the car. There are many streets and a parking place near the Lainzer Tor.
My two brothers, my parents, and I decided to walk to the Hermesvilla. The ways weren’t dirty or soggy. Of course, there were a lot of other visitors, but that was no problem because everyone keeps a distance. In the end, we visited the Jägerhütte next to the entry. It was an amazing and thrilling excursion and we saw dears and wild boars.

The Palm House in the center of the Schoenbrunn palace grounds is a very nice botanical garden and a must see for anyone who enjoys gardens. There are three separate climate zones and each one is filled to the rafters with lovely plants and, overall, is very well maintained.

If you want a quiet cool place on enjoy during a summer visit to Vienna, this is the place for you.

Beautiful museum, such a great fun! Even the kids (11, 7 & 3 yo) loved it! We were mesmerised by the figures, some of them are so realistic.. Would recommend anyone!

For fans of Gustav Klimt, this is worth a visit. The original cottage that Klimt rented from 1912 to 1918 is faithfully preserved as part of the larger villa. Klimt's studio provides a feel for the artist's way of working. There is no original art here, but there is a sense of history and presence that provides insight into the artist's unique style. There are also photos of lost Klimt artworks that were destroyed in a fire during WWII.

The Neptunbrunnen at Schönbrunn Palace is a beautiful large fountain at the end of the gardens. It was beautiful to see it in operation when we visited in the summer of 2014 but it was still great to see in the winter. It was built in 1780.

We booked the Christmas meal & concert package as visitors to Vienna from the UK. We attended at the Orangery as stated to collect the tickets which was fine & we were told the bus would collect us outside at 1850hrs. This time came & went with no instruction or member of staff to direct us. We stood around with many other people, everyone looking at each other unsure. I spotted a bus parked further down the road & on speaking to the driver (who had very little English) found out that it was his bus we were all meant to be on. A member of staff eventually joined us. We were then driven the few minutes to the Kaiserpavillon for our meal and had to walk from the bus in the pouring rain a couple of minutes to get there (there was a lack of lighting!). Kaiserpavillon is a lovely looking building inside but there was a real lack of atmosphere! No music (or so low you couldn't hear it!). The meal was nice enough but small in portion. The staff were efficient & friendly though. We were then taken by bus back to the Orangery for the concert. The orchestra & singers were very good but if you were at the back of the hall it was quite quiet. The different lighting effects were lovely though. All in all a bit disappointing!

While it is not fair to give an Austrian site four stars because of a language barrier, this is a predominantly English user review site, and the lack of English is a BIG hurdle here.

This theatre is on the grounds of Schonbrunn. Depending on your schedule you can likely plan the theatre along with the rest of your day at Schonbrunn.

We opted to see the Sisi Musical. The only show not billed as a “youth” show. The youth shows are shorter and cheaper. If you just want a taste, go for the youth option. Tickets to Sisi were $39 for the first six rows and $29 for the mezzanine (although they let us move from the mezzanine to the main section since there were only about 20 people there.

There is a program available for one euro. If you don’t know german, you need the program to explain what will happen in the show. But the program was only in German too. Luckily my daughter was able to translate it for me and that is the ONLY way I knew what was going on. Even then we got confused. If you go early there is a nice video talking about the marionettes and a display of the 100+ marionettes in their collection. Maybe you can find someone to translate it for you.

The marionettes are beautiful and the Sisi costumes stunning. The music is techno rock. Like Jesus Christ Superstar visited 19th century Vienna. It didn’t seem to fit the aesthetic but even without knowing the words I was bouncing along with the music.

Note it is not billed for kids and maybe that’s because three people die in the story. It was slightly disturbing to see a marionette with a dagger, but the story of Sisi is the story of Sisi. They didn’t change anything. But keep that in mind if you do take kids.
