Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- keith47Westcliff-on-Sea, UK616 contributionsThis has to be a good weather event, but when the sun is out , great.
Fortunately we had a great time, despite some infirmary and we stayed longer than expected. Snow had already fallen, adding to the scene.Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But we felt that this is a place where you must give couple of days to explore. A beautiful colour full town. It has Picturesque square with many historical landmarks including the Golden Roof, Hofburg Innsbruck, Dom zu St. Jakob and others. Restaurants and stores fill beautiful old style buildings.we saw the oldest hotel of the world. Old town has no vehicle zone which adds comfort to travellers. From some of the narrow streets you can watch majestic Alps. What a wonderful sight to behold!Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- twinridgeCharlottesville, VA67 contributionsSo, some recent reviewers were less-than-interested in the various collections, but we found nearly all of them to be of interest. We would have stayed a bit longer if I had paid for more time on the (coin-operated) parking meter, but I didn't get a sense that we should do so from recent previous reviews. If you have the parking app, you may be able to add time using the app.
Yes, you must be the type that like museums, but if so, there's plenty to see here. The medieval armor collection is huge, and includes armor for horses and even children. The cabinet of curiosities contains many decorative items of amazing craftmanship, from wood to precious metals to coral! We could have used more time here.
In the upper castle, there is a collection of etched and decorated glass that we had to breeze through because of time limitations. The Habsburg portrait gallery is extensive, and we likewise had to move quickly through that - though we would have moved past many of the lesser Habsburg figures rather quickly regardless of time constraints. The great hall is quite worth seeing, and there are other collections as well. In the courtyard of the upper castle is a small restaurant; it only accepts cash.

- amymlongHouston, TX217 contributionsWhile it feels like more of a museum than a church, I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Make sure to download the app at the entrance and follow the audio guide - helps you know exactly what you’re looking at and gives good background. I would suggest reading a bit about the emperor too beforehand so you can fully understand the tomb. Certainly a must for anyone visiting the area!Written 10 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stirling BOttawa, Canada764 contributionsThe golden roof is a house with a roof made with gold that commemorates the Marriage of Maximilian. It is a striking sight and on the inside there is a small museum that details its history. The interior is very beautiful with arched ceilings and lovely displays.Written 1 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel SBrisbane212 contributionsThis visit came included in our Nordkette tickets, so we stopped in on the way down the mountain.
The maps were a little underwhelming, and the zoo is built on a hill so expect lots of uphill walking! There were plenty of animals to see, and they seemed to be all local to Austria. The aquarium there was huge, with plenty of fish.
The biggest attraction (for my kids at least) was the brown bear - and we weren't disappointed!
It's worth visiting if you are doing the Nordkette trip too. The kids will love it.Written 21 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Interesting expo’s in a canon starting trip. - lynnep446New Zealand19 contributionsI just loved everything about this experience.
Located on the 2nd floor of a shopping centre (easy to find) in the old town I was the only person going through at my time slot.
The Experience Tirol show was outstanding. Hologram characters took me through the history of Tirol to the present day. I sat in a carriage beside Emperor Maximilian as he talked about his day to day life. We travelled through the Old Town where I recognised the buildings and watched everyday people go about their lives. I was left wanting more.
I learnt about the revolution, famous artists and writers. Traditions and pass-times of the Tirol people throughout the 4 seasons. I flew over Innsbruck and drove a VW down the new motorway.
Suitable for young an old it’s a great way to see Innsbruck from a different perspective.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They ask for a 1€ donation if you choose to take photos. - opal98London, UK201 contributionsFrom Maria Theresien Street, we boarded bus line J and arrived at Patscherkofelbahn (last stop). We walked straight to the gondola and had it all to ourselves. You don't need to be packed like other cable cars. The gondola was clean and comfortable, making it a relaxing experience to admire the breathtaking views all around while sitting. Once you're up, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views. The mountain can be explored through various trails. Das Kofel is a charming cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, but the service was below average. I wonder how it will during busy summer times as cafe was not busy at all when we were there. There is a small playground for children as well as toilets.
I strongly recommend this gondola ride.Written 27 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are fabulous exhibits on how people lived with recreations of early housing and they have many rooms to look at. As well there are period costumes and much more.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
