What travellers are saying
- MJKCoventry1,162 contributionsA beautiful lake surrounded by green hills with high mountains in the background. We have spent one day visiting several beaches and picturesque villages with old churches located on the shore of this lake, looked at it from the top of Pyramidenkogel Tower. The colour of the water was amazing.
Then, on the second day we enjoyed a boat trip from Klagenfurt to the Velden am Wörthersee (and back) to see everything again bat from the water side.
Highly enjoyable experience!Written 29 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The space shuttle taking off is kinda cheesy but it's fun. Ample parking. Can be tiring and the heat can get bothersome in the middle of the summer like when I was there in early September (2021). Not a whole lot of shade, so bring sun-cream, sunglasses, and water. Recommended!Written 4 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Off their PManchester, UK3,955 contributionsThis horseshoe shaped building was once the Kings moated castle and is absolutely beautiful. Two fountains decorate the outer area and the red marble obelisk fountain has been there since 1833.
In a town full of history this is one of the more special areas as the east courtyard dates back to the 15th century.
All this in the city centre!Written 9 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Shortly after it was erected they added the Fountain which used to be the source of the towns drinking water and used to fight fires!
It isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing but the history adds a great deal.Written 9 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you like parks and nature in general, this is something for you.Written 19 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hendrik_NLVlaardingen, The Netherlands7,264 contributionsYou can find most well known German and Austrian retail chains here, and local shops and cafes as well. The center is spacious with clean toilets and as a large positive point, City Arkaden includes a enormous covered car park, accessible from the main thoroughfare St. Veiter Ring. As the main entrance of City Arkaden is on the Heuplatz, leaving City Arkaden on foot brings you right in the historic center of Klagenfurt. Visiting Klagenfurt by car was never easier. However, short term parking is encouraged. The first two hours cost 1 Euro/hr. Each hour more cost 2 Euro/hr. But compared to the underground car park on the Neuer Platz, where the Lindwurm is, the parking tariff at City Arkaden is positively cheap.Written 9 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yair Bar ZoharQiryat Ata, Israel2,075 contributionsPrivate beach Strandbad Klagenfurt, where you can sit by the lake, swim, hire boats to sail on the lake, play volleyball on the beach or, if you come with children, let them jump on the trampolines.
The admission fee is reasonable.
The beach is located at Metnitzstrand 2.
Opening hours: May on Sundays and Saturdays from 8:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 19:00. June to August from 8:00 to 19:00, in September from 9:00 to 19:00.
How long should you stay at the beach? You can move here all afternoon.
If you do not want to sit by the lake and look for a bit more sporty activity, another option is to rent a bike and go out to one of the many bike paths around the lake. There are bicycle tracks at all levels of difficulty, from an hour's ride to a few hours. It is recommended to find out with the bicycle hireers what bike routes they recommend in the vicinity.Written 11 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Off their PManchester, UK3,955 contributionsThis terrific market was near to our hotel and I’m so glad we found it.
It isn’t the biggest but certainly packs a punch and was fascinating to walk round.
The produce on the fruit and vegetable stalls was amazing and we topped up our breakfast there. So fresh and only selling what’s in the season.
There are the other stores you would expect to see you there but also lots of little bars and eateries that the local seem to love. Lots of wine from the area along with cheeses and meats make it definitely worth a visit and it was one of the high sports in town.Written 9 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Luigi_FinoTokyo, Japan471 contributionsThe sorroundings are nice and nearby the sea, the castle has ample spaces to host a fabolous event, be it your private party or business event.
The food was quite OK and seems to be all done in-house, I enjoyed the reception party held by the Klagenfurt Wood Fair and would recommend this venue.Written 21 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wonderful and a huge collection; from Hammond organs till synthesizers, they are all there. The owner is Brilliant! Plays all the instruments and gives a great show. You can also use the instruments yourself, so my dream to play a minimoog came thru!
Some rare pieces like Keith Emerson Hammond are also in the collection!

- chairduckBrooktondale, NY420 contributionsA cute, fat little statue of the dude who allegedly flooded the Wörthersee to punish those who had lost their way (from god). Fun to stop by and take a picture while you're wandering around the shops of downtown Klagenfurt!Written 10 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TOMOSUMICTrogir, Croatia653 contributionsThis beautiful city we visited the last day of the year 2018. Very beautifully decorated, shops and streets. Food typical of this part of Austria. Various types of sausages with cabbage or with beet. Maybe we need a bit of snow to keep the atmosphere idyllic. All stores give big discounts on winter goods, and announced that even bigger discounts will be in January.
Enjoy the architecture of all who come to this city.Written 6 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
