Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Learn more about our review moderation.

What travellers are saying
- freefiremanVienna, Austria2,376 contributionsThe Grossarltal Tourist Office offers a wide range of options, such as hiking on around 400 km of marked hiking trails to around 40 managed alpine pastures in the Grossarl Valley. Because of its alpine density it is also called the valley of the alpine pastures, but you can hike not only on alpine pastures, but also on peaks or to mountain lakes.
There is also the opportunity to purchase hiking needles, a hiking taxi or hike with the hiking professionals, you will find accommodations that specialize in hiking. Numerous tour tips and INFOS from the tourism association make it easier to plan the tour - everything is included, from the easy alpine hike to the demanding high mountain tour.
The "BERG-GESUND" is offered, an extensive tour and mountain program and these tours are free for guests from BERG-GESUND member companies. Various themed hikes are also offered in the Grossarl Valley.
The chapel hiking trail is a pleasant hike for body, mind and soul. On the Salzburg Almenweg you can go on a long hike with 31 stages through the Salzburg Pongau, but it takes some time. The hiking village of Großarl and the hiking and mountaineering village of Hüttschlag really offer a lot when it comes to hiking.
In winter a wide range of perfectly groomed slopes, modern lifts and the most rustic ski huts in the Alps with good culinaric offers - all on the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area. Also cross-country skiing, ski tours, snowshoe hikes - discovering nature in the Grossarl Valley is offered.
Mountain highlights such as Skikeriki, free WiFi, peace and quiet, fun slopes and snow park ensure fun in the snow - you can still experience authenticity and quality at the Salzburg Mountain Advent in Grossarltal.

- james f34 contributionsI contacted the tourist office by email before my holiday.Replies we’re always punctual and answered my questions.
I booked 3 free guided walks on Monday, Thursday and Friday.
On arriving in St Johann in Tirol I went into the office for information, timetables for bus and train and maps.Staff we’re always polite and helpful.
The guided walks led by Georg( Monday and Friday ), Elizabeth (Thursday) were excellent. For holders of the st Johann in Tirol card this was free .included was a return taxi ( Monday and Thursday) , Friday was bus to Kirchendorf( free with the hotel card/ and a lift in Georg,s car.
Both guides spoke excellent English.
They were both experienced in leading groups, able to judge group members abilities and fitness , take account of the weather and adjust accordingly. Both we’re knowledgeable about local flora and fauna, geology , animals and nature.
I did a total of 6 walks in 2 weeks and this greatly enhanced my holiday.

- BobBonHereLytham St Anne's, UK2,597 contributionsThroughout our holiday we’d been keen to sample authentic, ‘home made’ cake, surprisingly difficult to find in Mayrhofen town. However we were recommended by our tour rep to sample the cakes at Krell in nearby Hippach, a 10 minute train ride down the valley. What we found was an excellent selection of cakes that completely suited our need. - Peter bBirmingham, UK809 contributionsThe tourist office is part of the Seefeld railway station building. It is one of the most informative and helpful ones we have ever found. The staff were always pleasant and if they couldn't answer your question they could always someone who could. The amount of literature was fantastic. You can get your "Walking Passport" from them and in two weeks we accumulated in access of the 100 points to obtain a FREE pin (Steinbok, Edelweiss or boot is available).Written 23 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FlowerspotcamoBerkshire, UK42 contributionsI have just called them about booking ski lockers in February. They were really helpful. You can book lockers when you go to the ski pass office when you arrive, you do not need to pre book. Looks like about £5 per person for a week.
