- Catlovers12345 contributionsWe booked this activity as it was highly reviewed on Trip Advisor. We had a good time overall. However, the price is quite expensive considering the lunch is not included and is an extra €15 each. We were quite lucky with the weather and managed to jump into the sea at most spots, which was lovely and warm. The atmosphere on the boat was also good, and the boat itself had plenty of space to relax, on sunbeds or on the nets on the front of the boat. On our trip, we didn’t visit many of the attractions mentioned in the description, and when at the Blue Lagoon, we weren’t very close to the actual lagoon. Bare this in mind if you were hoping to grab food at the food vans there. There are cheaper boats which would probably give you a similar experience. - Dara RGermany56 contributionsWe had the best day on this boat tour. Took the advice of other reviews and showed up early and took a taxi. We were a hour early and people were already lined up for a 9am departure time. Boat was very crowded but enough space to sit on the top deck. It left on time. Got to spend a significant amount of time at the Blue Lagoon. Plenty of great food options on the blue lagoon. Make sure to be one of the first people to rent snorkel gear on the boat. They have very limited supplies. Crystal lagoon was much rougher waters than blue lagoon and lots of jelly fish. So we opted to stay on the boat most of the time. We paid the extra 15€ to do the cave tour. The saves were disappointing. Only went in two for a very short amount of time. The best part was the speed boat. Our driver made the trip very fun. Going fast over the waves and shape turns. The boat ride was better than the caves. If you’re looking for a more detailed tour of the caves, this isn’t for you. The slides on the boat were very fun. He took us to the most amazing places with absolute desterity. Do not hesitate to chose Outdoor Explorers Malta. It made all the difference. He introduced us to his city, weaving in personal stories and understandings that only a local would have. Learned so much about the history of the Knights of St John and, of course, the history of Valletta. Highly recommend this tour and this tour guide! - Eli K1 contributionJames was our skipper and the experience was truly amazing. We had the most incredible day. He showed us really nice places and explained everything in details. He knew so much about the grottoes and the unique features of each stop, which made the experience even more special . He also helped my friend who was nervous about swimming in the open ocean. James handled the situation with such professionalism and was really patient about it. We couldn't have asked for a better skipper. It was the perfect way to spend our last day in Malta, and it left us with unforgettable memories. - BUDDEE5 contributionsI booked this private tour just a few weeks before my cruise to Valletta , Malta . After searching for tours online this one seemed to be exactly what I was looking for especially with limited timing having to return on our ship. Our driver / guide John met us promptly right outside our cruise terminal and guided us to a nice comfortable vehicle with AC. He provided an abundance of information about the history of Valetta , stopped at a Cathedral, we saw the beautiful town of Mdina and made an impromptu stop for us to do a boat ride to the most beautiful grotto. John also provided us with traditional cheese pastries , cookies and water . This tour was EXCELLENT! They serve a light local snack, drinks throughout the day and a delicious lunch. Two long stops for swimming in crystal clear water and a little education and some jokes along the way. - Janet O3 contributionsThe boat was comfortable and not crowded, left in a timely fashion. The itinerary was as advertised. My two negatives were the fact that the sound could have been clearer - at times it was difficult to hear over the noise of the boat especially as I was also trying to listen for the right language. I had some issues getting tickets (make sure the email attached to your trip advisor is correct) but these were resolved before the trip but needed to be addressed by trip advisor via chat rather than Iseemalta as they couldn’t help when I called. - Alixandre C5 contributionsWe had a great time. Beware in August it is very hot, we brought handheld misting fans to keep us cool. Also, the boat is very crowded. The itinerary is also a little misleading. You spend an hour at Blue Lagoon which is on Comino Island. Here there is a very small beach, but you can access the water from rocky areas. There are several other boats that dock here so it is crowded. There are also drink and food trucks. Then the boat takes you to Gozo, some of the passengers stayed at Blue Lagoon. I wish we would have stayed at Blue Lagoon rather than go to Gozo because it was sooooo hot in Gozo and I had my 4 year old son. Once you get to Gozo you take a bus to Victoria, where you get 2 hrs to explore. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Citadel, but in August its dangerously hot. We had enough time for a quick lunch and ice cream before heading back to the bus and boat. From there we went to Crystal Lagoon. If you have little ones that cannot swim well, make sure to bring floats for them. The boat also has life jackets you can use. The water here is deep and you anchor in the middle of the lagoon, there is no beach. You have an hour at Crystal Lagoon before you head back. Overall it was a great experience, but the boat is extremely crowded. I do feel that we got our monies worth. - Conor M5 contributionsWe had only a short time in Valletta but this tour left us feeling like we had really experienced the place. A fantastic way to sample the local cuisine and to get a feel for the history and culture of Valletta, and Malta as a whole. Our tour guide (Angel / Angela?) was brilliant; knowledgeable, humorous and engaging. She mixed together personal anecdotes about her memories growing up in Malta with historical knowledge to create a really enjoyable and informative tour.
