What travellers are saying
- kjraihaTampere, Finland476 contributionsA museum with two sides to it. First, an art museum, with several excellent pieces of Finnish art from the "golden era" -- many of which are well-known to Finns. These were acquired from a private collection. And second, a journey through the years; about a dozen stands ("rooms") exhibiting how (wealthy) people lived in Vaasa 100+ years ago.
Surprisingly good.Written 11 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - silpic2019Narpes, Finland5 contributionsReally good place for lunch, nice atmosphere, good stuff, nice interior, good selection of beers and lunch alternativesWritten 17 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alek5anderSt. Petersburg, Russia162 contributionsNice local museum. Three floors of interesting stuff. Exhibition is big but could be more informative. Worth to visit.Written 1 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ElisabethVaasa, Finland4 contributionsIf one wants to get to know Vasa and its surroundings, this is the place to go. The landrising in the area is a world Record which affects the nature in an obvious way. In this Museum one can learn all about it. If one doesn’t have a car to go and explore by oneself, this is a good option. Be sure to visit the part called Terra Nova.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- 967harria19 contributionsClose to the Old Vaasa ruins. If you go to see the ruins, do not miss the church. Used to be a court house. Check the times to get inside. If possible choose a sunny morning/day for the interior. Nice linden alley next to the church. And it is free.Written 30 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dutch-MikeyLe Havre, France1,085 contributionsThe big ferry which can hold many cars, trucks, caravans and motorcycles is old. Lots of rust to be seen. But it’s clean.
Loading and offloading is extremely fast and efficient, 30 minutes and vehicles were offloaded and loaded for the next trip.
The prepaid buffet was fine, lots of choice, but the enormous queue before entering is crazy; one person who inspects tickets and serves drinks is totally not efficient!
The business lounge is nothing to write home about if it weren’t for the peace and quiet. Seats don’t even recline, so no napping.Written 3 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - JamesHelsinki, Finland96 contributionsWhat a fascinating place. When you hear of a site of a meteorite impact you are thinking of a big crater, perhaps a sign of the tremendous power of a meteorite hitting the earth.
Well at Meteoriihi there is the mildest of craters, if it was not for the small farming strips, assorted in a giant circle surrounded by trees, you would not know this was a crater. This is probably why it is so special, on discovering the history of the site it used to be full of water and then there was a giant land reclamation project which turned it into shared farmland.
There is a tower to climb and get a good 360 view of the crater. The place has an information centre but it was closed during our evening visit. There are use useful information boards around giving details on the history of the site. I love these small semi-unknown tourist sites!Written 10 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - John B8 contributionsThis is a nice place but to be honest it needs a renovation. The location and the view are very nice but that's all.Written 29 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JamppaT2009Tampere, Finland17 contributionsFamous location because of a TV program that is popular for people who likes to learn practical hand works!Written 16 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ludwig HAugsburg, Germany26 contributionsNice ruins with lots of good spots for pictures. Sadly the biggest ruin was fenced off and thus not accessible. Furthermore, there wasn't too much to see. It's free though so as long as you keep your expectations low, it's a good spot to visit.Written 23 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsVaasa Church is a neo-Gothic building built in 1862.
One of three altarpieces is made by Albert Edelfelt, one of the most famous Finnish painter.
We were lucky to hear the great acoustics of this church. Somebody was playing the organ on our visit.Written 21 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - 967harria19 contributionsNice building, not too big. Beautiful surroudings. Exhibitions always sort of surprise. Keep your eyes and mind open! Cafe closed at the moment, should open again in January 2019.Written 30 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
