Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Leif BPietarsaari, Finland2,713 contributionsI liked this museum. It tells about the history of Vasa and Osterbotten and they have also many important paintings from the golden age of Finnish painting in the Hedmans collection. Well worth visiting.Written 23 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mikael AUmeå, Sweden41 contributionsVery cozy place. Went there with my girlfriend for a couple of beers. We each bought a "tasting platter" containing 6 beers on each. I'd definitely recommend that! Great way to try their own beers. Some exciting, some good and some decent.
Good service, and overall a fun place to visit.Written 17 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The landrising in the area is a world Record which affects the nature in an obvious way. In this Museum one can learn all about it. If one doesn’t have a car to go and explore by oneself, this is a good option. Be sure to visit the part called Terra Nova.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alek5anderSt. Petersburg, Russia162 contributionsNice local museum. Three floors of interesting stuff. Exhibition is big but could be more informative. - JamesHelsinki, Finland96 contributionsWhat a fascinating place. When you hear of a site of a meteorite impact you are thinking of a big crater, perhaps a sign of the tremendous power of a meteorite hitting the earth.
Well at Meteoriihi there is the mildest of craters, if it was not for the small farming strips, assorted in a giant circle surrounded by trees, you would not know this was a crater. This is probably why it is so special, on discovering the history of the site it used to be full of water and then there was a giant land reclamation project which turned it into shared farmland.
There is a tower to climb and get a good 360 view of the crater. The place has an information centre but it was closed during our evening visit. There are use useful information boards around giving details on the history of the site. I love these small semi-unknown tourist sites!Written 10 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Check the times to get inside. If possible choose a sunny morning/day for the interior. Nice linden alley next to the church. And it is free.Written 30 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JariJKKouvola, Finland5,322 contributionsÖjberget is a ski center but there is an observation tower there, too. The observation tower is free and it is open (24/7) also in summer. In summer there aren't any services in the ski center. The correct address is Öjbergintie 98 (Sundom), 65410 Vaasa.
Söderfjärden is the globally unique meteorite impact crater that was created 520 million years ago. In the explosion the celestial body that crashed down created a crater bowl more than 300 meters deep. Still nowadays 10 % of Söderfjärden is located below the sea level.
Öjberget is a part of the border mountain chain surrounding the crater. Nowadays the top of Öjberget is located over 50 meters above the sea level and the top of the observation tower 65 meters above the sea level. So this is a good place to see Söderfjärden which is a flat field area nowadays. It is also the most important resting place of cranes in Finland. Sometimes there have been 6000 cranes at the same time there.
Over half a century ago Söderfjärden was "the kingdom of barns". There were more than 3000 barns there. Nowadays only 100 barns are left.
There is also a nature trail around Öjberget. You may see a pothole, boulders and ancient shorelines there. People have lived here already 4000 years ago.
This observation tower was very interesting. Even my teenage son loved it very much.Written 10 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is hard to visit unless you attend a concert, a meeting or a congress.
We managed to see the main staircase when we tried to find the Art Hall in the same building. The entrance to that was on the other side of the building.
The art exhibition showed stunning black and white images of Africa's nature.Written 21 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Main thing to see here is of course the magnificent ruins of Vanha Vaasa. The surrounding park area is nice mostly green grass and a good place to have a picnic. Easy to find parking space. There is also an information sign telling the history of the area.Written 11 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 967harria19 contributionsNice building, not too big. Beautiful surroudings. Exhibitions always sort of surprise. Keep your eyes and mind open! - karkkikapteeniHelsinki, Finland2 contributionsA good day activity for families with children.
Plusses:
✅ Super friendly staff at the entrance
✅ Pleasant experience, worth the price since this is the only water park in the area
✅ Outside slides and pools are great
Minuses:
❌ The inside is in need of some renovations or at least a paint job. Quite damaged and dirty looking in some places.
❌ Quite priceyWritten 10 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Heli KLappeenranta, Finland1,515 contributionsWe took a trip from Vaasa to Umeå with Wasaline's new ferry. Compared to ferries which goes from Helsinki or Turku to Sweden this is quite small, but just perfect for this purpose. We had also our car with us.
On our way to Sweden we had à la carte -lunch and it was nice. On our way back to Finland we had a buffet dinner and it was better than à la carte.... tells just how good the buffet is. I am glad we traveled first day time so we could see everything in a day light - but it was wonderful to came back in the evening - the sun set was so beautiful. There is also a small shop if you happen to need something.
And since there is actually nothing else to do than have a lunch or dinner and admire the scenery - I recommend to take a good book, charge batteries for you devices or play cards with your friends.Written 11 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
