Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Knitter8London, UK96 contributionsWe did the English guided tour which are at regular times during the day. The guide was very good and was dressed in medieval costume.
The castle is large and very old as Turku used to be the capital of Finland.
We wanted to get outside the Bailey part but had to go along way following the arrows to get there!
The exhibition we went was good!Written 12 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was probably the nicest thing I liked about Turku.Written 19 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rokkapEspoo, Finland685 contributionsForum Marinum has grown and improved vastly. It is a VERY enjoyable museum. The site and the exhibits are unique, and more and more attractive. They now also house motor torpedo boats and the like under a roof.Written 18 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland25,586 contributionsThe church was built in 1845 and was designed by architect Johan Carl Ludvig Engel.
It is located on the northeast corner of Turku Market Square and is the main church of the Turku orthodox parish.
It is open only during the services. At least from outside, it looked beautiful.Written 15 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From May to October, it acts as a fountain. In the dark, it is a light art installation. In Turku, Harmony is also known as the Whale Tail.Written 15 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sjohan03Turku, Finland12 contributionsI have been visiting Utö regularly in 50 years! All seasons, all kinds of weathers! Travelling to Utö by the ferry is free. Hotel, terraced houses, hostels and private accomodations. Excellent food at the hotel restaurant. The traveller must be a nature enthusiast, the island has a lot of cliffs, the weather can sometimes be really challenging, but the nature is enchanting, the lighthouse with a church inside a specialty and worth of visit...as the whole island with its little village and chapel!Written 10 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mari6Turku, Finland617 contributionsMartinkirkko church tower is visible from far as the building stands higher than rest of the houses around and it also has it's red tower peaking high to the sky. It is art deco style inside, and red bricks from the outside.Written 6 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Edgar HDottikon, Switzerland26 contributionsFor those who are excited about special places, than plan your stay in Kakola Hotel. Modern rooms, friendly staff and good located close to Turku downtown. Rich breakfast buffet, however a reasonable selection of jam or honey was missing - than I would have given 5/5 points.Written 4 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland25,586 contributionsWhen established in 1918, Ã…bo Akademi University was among the first institutions of the independent State of Finland.
Most of the buildings are located around the Turku Cathedral but the university has also activities in Vaasa.
It is a Swedish-language university with 5,500 students.Written 16 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Finns know the place as the location of a historical TV series, so for the fans it might hold some extra magic. For me, it was just about wandering around the grounds and getting a feel of the history. I also participated in a free guided tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, telling interesting tidbits of the past but also a few ghost stories.
Like in so many Finnish manors, the café offers tasty homemade sweet and savoury treats, but there are also artworks on display.
The manor is situated on the beautiful island of Kakskerta, about 17 km from the centre of Turku. The bus 15 from the Market Square (Kauppatori) drives straight to the island (the bus stop is right in front of the manor: http://www.foli.fi/en), but the manor is also reachable by boat.Written 29 April 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When it was first placed there it raised a discussion whether it had been worth the money or not. Another artist attached a huge ax on the surface one dark night which made it somewhat funny, but it was later removed to some protest. Well, art doesn't appeal everyone and the citizens have got used to the flat blue surface on the lawn.Written 13 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SannaSouthwest Finland, Finland452 contributionsThis was my first time visiting the museum. I wanted to see the exhibition about Sibelius and his life, which was very interesting and equipped with lots of audio material as well.
However, I'm not quite sure why the title character isn't featured in a permanent exhibition.
The museum also displays various historical instruments and offers fascinating insider knowledge about music and how it came to be so popular, especially in the Finnish context.
I would recommend this museum for anyone who is interested in music. The building itself is also beautiful, and the museum hosts a nice museum shop.Written 25 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
