Very interesting and an incredible restoration. We started in the Bailey and round tower part of the museum rather than the castle proper as there was a big school group headed into the castle. I would recommend starting where we did. There is an excellent time line which gives a good overall sense of the history. There are also excellent models, photos and tableaus with excellent graphics and touchscreens. Really well done. The castle itself is also interesting and the restoration and descriptions chart its journey from a medieval fortress to a renaissance seat of government. I highly recommend giving yourself several hours to explore and learn.

Very interesting. A couple things really stood out - the ceramic model at the entrance with excellent information for both sighted and vision-impaired visitors. Also, the wooden tablets in each building with concise information about the particular craft and about the actual individuals who lived and worked there. This reflected the amount of research that must have gone in to creating this museum, and it gives a real sense of the fact that this was a real neighbourhood with real people living in it.

A majestic church. A calm atmosphere inside. Also a place for smaller kids to play in. There was a museum on the second floor which had an entry fee of 10€. Didn’t check it out but would still recommend it.

This museum is definetly one of the top sights in Turku. The archaeological exhibition was extremely fascinating as we were actually inside an archaeological excavation. The exhibition had all the texts in Finnish, Swedish, and English. There were many interactive parts which really fascinate kids.

We did not visit the modern art exhibition, but we did see a glance of it and it looked like something I would recommend visiting.

This is an incredible museum, being on the river and a beautiful location. It is very easy to find if walking. Very near Turku Castle where you can go for lunch. Permanent displays depict life on the coast pre-1900, during the time of high emigration. There is a large wall display with dozens of old boat motors which fishermen will find entertaining. Highly recommend.

We've been on this route with a caravan. It's an excellent way to spend your vacation. Ferries, most of which are for free, islands, lovely nature and small villages. In our opinion is important to do this route not in a hurry but in your own pace. Prices in the local shops are kinda high. Views are super nice. Early June was still not the high season so there were not too many people everywhere. We had a happy holiday there.

I only had time for a brief stroll through the Market Hall, which was just delightful. I found a very knowledgeable cheese merchant and bought some insanely cheap local cheese which was very tasting, and two beautiful brown rolls to eat them with. I was very sorry I had made dinner reservations for that evening because I could have satisfied all my needs (including sushi!) at the hall.

A good collection of local Turku souvenirs as well, if you are into that sort of thing.

    A credit to the city.

Very superior excelsior establishment, everything is new, open and a lot natural light. It’s nice to just to come inside to warm up at winter -25 ℃ when just crossing by. You don’t have to be an customer, loan a book or return late music records, everybody is welcome

The museum was extremely interesting as it offered a look knto the way people lived in the 18th century. I was hoping to see more text and information about all the rooms. There was a small leaflet for kids as they went through the museum but no in-depth information, except for a whole book about the topic which could be bought from the shop desk. It was lacking interactivity and things for children, so I would not recommend this museum for families with children under the age of 12.

I've fallen in love with this place on our previous travel and we came back here again. It's great to walk in the outdoor botanical garden, inside is very nice too, but the outside garden you can visit for free. Great in early June - so many flowers are in bloom. There are ponds, trees, flowers, everything you want from a botanical garden. There's cafe also, we bought ice cream to eat while walking. For me it's the loveliest place of Turku.

Ã…bo Svenska Teater is a Swedish theater in Turku. The theater has been located in its present beautiful building since 1839. So it is the oldest theater in Finland.

We were seeing Dracula which is a musical. This horror play is very suitable for an old theater house. The auditorium was also used for the show.

It was fully booked on our visit. The public spaces were very cramped before and after the show and also during the intermission.

This is actually one part of the huge Kupittaa park. Kupittaa park is a park where you find something for everyone, everything from sports facilities to bird cages, traffic park, mini golf, open air pool yo huge lawns to just sun bath. One part is made as an adventure park for kids. It's free of charge and have all kinds of swings and climbing structures. Furthermore they arrange indoor activities such as painting workshops and theatre clubs. Sometimes they arrange concerts for kids, everything for free as the entire park is run by the city.

When we are visiting this wonderful city we make a point of visiting this museum. The exhibitions have never disappointed and once again they are staging a fascinating exhibition on the works of Sukhothai Sipila and Greta Hällfors-Sipilä. If you are in the city this is an exhibition that should definitely be on your to do list.
The museum is a fine historical structure in its own right and is well worth exploring. There is a cafe that serves good food and coffee and it’s a wonderful place to take a break.

A much nicer way to cross the river than a bridge. The ride is free and fast and saves you a lot of time.
