Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- VJKokkola, Finland64 contributionsA beautiful but small art collection of Emil Aaltonen. There was also another exhibition in the second floor.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- gardengrovespinJoensuu, Finland7 contributionsThis is one of those unassuming places which don't really advertise themselves but if you're a friend of fine arts, it's certainly worth a visit. Open only for a few hours a day. A cool, peaceful haven after a hot day; we almost got the whole place for ourselves.
A well-kept building with an interesting collection, especially highlighting the late 19th century Finnish art, antique furniture and silverware. Fascinating souvenir collection. At the time of our visit the temporary exhibition was about Catherine Val. Every display room has small info on the original owner of the collection (Kustaa Hiekka) and his family history. Don't expect an action-packed experience with all the modern gimmicks, but it's not some forgotten dusty warehouse either. A walk-through takes about an hour.
The staff were friendly. Right inside the main doors we were presented disposable shoe covers(!) to wear during our visit because of the vulnerable original carpets. Didn't bother us. Remember: all photography is prohibited inside!Written 14 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
