Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rigth in the center of Tampere on the main street you will find this Sokos.
Large shopping center were you will find every thing, all very modern and clean.
Even the Alko shop is present here.
Easy to find around in this big shop, should be one of the biggest in Tampere.

Haihara Art Centre is open in summer. You may visit art exhibitions in the old manor house (from the 1870's) without any admission fee. They claimed that also a ghost named Blue Maid wanders around the rooms of the manor. She is said to be a former servant of the house. There may even be several ghosts there. Believe it or not.

The nice summer cafeteria named Kahvikamari is located in the old workers' house which was built in 1811. You may also visit Runeberg Cottage which was named after Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland. He spent the summer 1834 there. There are also several other interesting and historical buildings on the area of Haihara Manor, e.g. an old windmill.

This place is quite earthy and countrified, not very elegant. However, we loved the milieu with art, historical buildings, nice vegetation (e.g. a birch alley from the manor to the beach) and the summer cafeteria.

The beach of the manor isn't very good for swimming. There is a better public beach very near the mansion. So if you want to swim, I recommend that you go to Riihiniemi Beach (Kaukajärvi, address Järvikatu 14).

Go and have some breakfast at Ilopilleri and enjoy the athmosphere. Nice weather is needed althought there is a sunroof for cover. One can take a day or evening boat cruise with dinner if that is your thing. There is also rather new place called Kuuma (hot) with restaurant and Sauna with swimming in a river-pool.

The name of Laukontori comes from a manor of Laukko where the foods were brought the be sold at the market in the city.

This shopping center has got a facelift after our last visit years ago. It felt now much more modern.

We were staying in the Ilves Hotel next to it. Now we needed a pharmacy and it was easy to find from here.

If you want to do grocery shopping, the nearby Ratina Shopping Centre is better for that.

Ratina is Tampere's largest shopping center located next to Koskikeskus Shopping Centre. From these two, you will find everything you need.

K-Supermarket Ratina on the 1st floor is a big grocery store to buy your food and drinks.

This small gallery is an excellent space for photography, and has a rapidly changing programme. We very much enjoyed the exhibition of young nordic photographers which was on when we visited.

We went there to see the current retrospective of Marra Lampi's work, which is very well served by the gallery's 3 spaces. In addition, it has the tiniest gallery shop I've ever seen! Worth checking out if you're in Tampere

This is a nice gallery having different changing art exhibitions almost every month. The gallery is run by AvaraTaide Association. (Avara = The spacious; Taide = Art). The aims of this Association is to revitalize and expand the art offerings in Tampere and its surrounding area. There is no coffee shop in the gallery, but there are several cafeterias and restaurants around the place.

Galleries in Tampere are very close to each other, so you should give them a little time and rotate through them all at the same time.
Gallery Rajatila concentrates to display contemporary art and artists.
They have quite experimental exhibitions, also video art.
The gallery is in two floors and consists of two separate exhibition spaces. They have a little book shop.

This great little shop (now also in the old market hall) has a great selection of chocolate wares but I couldn’t resist trying the handmade chocs. They have a special, 12 for 12 euros and for more than 12, 1 euro each. Too good a deal to pass up! I like fruity chocs and was easily able to find 12 that I wanted to try. Each and every one has been delicious and the staff service was great. Recommended.

Gallery Koppelo has moved from Hämeenpuisto to Kauppakatu just some weeks ago in April 2016. It's a nice small art gallery just next to photography art gallery Nykyaika.
