We got an early HSL ferry from the market at the port in Helsinki and going early was a really good move… we were almost the only folk there. The coffee shop overlooking the rocks (near the little beach) is a great place to sit out and look out over the sea. Make sure you walk along the sea shore path… it really is beautiful. - Roberto D2 contributionsThis is a beautiful church worth visiting if you're in Helsinki. The place is beautiful and staff are very nice. As soon as I arrived and told a member of staff where I was from, she immediatelly started helping me in Spanish, a very good one, I must say, I thought she was Spaniard due to her accent. She welcomed me to Helsinki and explained briefly the church to me in my own language, which I appreciate. I mentioned I always wanted to visit the country because one of my favourite singers, Tarja Turunen, is Finnish and she didn't hesitate to recommend me visiting again later that day for a classic music Concert. It was THE BEST start of my short trip in Helsinki. Soli was her name. - Danks KnowsShoalhaven, Australia2,031 contributionsThe Helsinki Cathedral overlooks the National library and Senate Square and is probably the main tourist attraction in Helsinki. The large white cathedral is perched atop of about thirty steps and looks very grand. It is free to enter.
The inside of the cathedral is rather plain compared to most others, so can be underwhelming.

- MamachocoLondon, UK238 contributionsWe chose a rather rainy day for our visit to Seurasaari, but after a stop in a cafe the weather improved. There is so much to explore here, and although we didn't pay to visit the inside of some of the buildings, there is enough information on boards dotted all around the museum. The little birds are extremely tame here, they land on your hand (and head), and the red squirrels come right up to you as well. As do the mosquitoes, so come prepared for that. Oodi the library is amazing. Tempelin Aukio, the new music building, the Kampi kappelli pure art. Then there are many great museums to visit as well as interesting shopping opportunities. Popular in the summer time with several food trucks and photo ops. In addition to the wide selection of books, the cafe, and probably other stuff we didn't even see/know about, there's a great children's play area, with things to climb on, books to read (including in English), and more. This is just one more example of how family-friendly and kid-friendly Helsinki is. The esplanadi park is not only a nice place for a walk, a nice park but also a shopping street. The Russian style building is nice from outside and inside. It is located in a good location and the building itself is beautiful both outside and inside. Imagine I bought the ticket to Helsinki are the counter and did not get ticket nor receipt. First time I'm seeing such a thing. So i asked where is my ticket she said it registered online. Then I said where is my receipt for the purchase she said the is none just show up for the date and time.
It so happened I had to change the date of sailing and was charged another 20 euros, and only this time I actually got a receipt, a day after I retuned to make the changes.
The ship was so comfortable and looks like you are in a mall. The tea and snacks were quite pricey. There is plenty to see for adults, teenagers and small children. There is area you can eat snacks. There are toilets and places to sit and relax. Finland needs to show or tell more about the important part of what happened in 1940s. So many people in Finland lost lives and so many children missed homes. Terrible that the construction workers were in the middel of the building and the banging noises was Really Really loud and terrible. I have not experienced similiar construction work at other museums in the world.
