Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Though it cold and windy, I decided to take the ferry from the Market Square to this Fortress. The ride was short, about 15 minutes.

There were lots of school children on a field trip here.I let them ahead of me, took my time to explore the Island. What were most memorable for me: Church ( not opened during my visit), Viking-like monument of a military person, canons, and wall fortifications.

Construction works are going at various locations here. Workers are helpful when asked for directions. Highly recommended to visit this attraction. Ferry fares are FREE if you have an HSL Travel Card.

I visited it first thing in the rainy morning. There was group discussing about their pending presentation here. The decorations are sparse and minimalist. What attracted me most is their beautiful and colorful organ located near the ceiling area.

Entrance here is FREE, but donations are welcome. I bid goodbye to the staff who explained that the Cathedral is Lutheran, not Russian Orthodox. They have scheduled services through out the week

A most beautiful cathedral situated close to the market square and can be seen from miles away.
We did not go in however thoroughly enjoyed a good look around.
Beautiful and well worth a look if you visit this stunning little city.

As soon as I checked in at my hotel, I started my visit of Helsinki. This was the very first attraction I saw, a beautiful park with flowering plants, several statues, benches to sit down, etc.

Note that there are also restaurants and shops along its sides. This park leads to the Market Square where there are more attractions to see and visit.

If you are visiting Helsinki I should imagine most people come to this park to see the abstract monument (a series of pipes) constructed in honor of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, entitled Passio Musicae.
Its worth some of your time to explore, along with what looks like a bit of an afterthought bust of Sibelius stuck to the side of the sculpture.
Dont forget to stop for coffee & cinnamon buns at the Regatta cafe a stones throw away.

Caused an uproar with some when first launched to the public in 1908. The intention of the sculpture was to symbolise the rebirth of Helsinki. Its iconic to Helsinki.

There are several attractions near the Market Square. One of them is this attraction. As I got closer, I noticed it to be working, but I could not see any riders or people falling in line to take the rides.

This ride I can take, but not the roller coasters. I’ll definitely come back her to experience the ride before leaving Helsinki.

You find over 200 plant species in this botanical garden. The oldest plant is a camellia tree which is about 130 years old. There are nice sitting places and tables between plants. You can take a book with you and read here or you can take a laptop and work here. It was very relaxing to walk and sit here in October. However, during Christmas time the indoor botanical garden may be crowded. There isn't any admission fee to this botanical garden.

Great vibe and popular with locals and tourists. Dipping in the Baltic Sea was a highlight. The views at sunset are also fantastic.

sauna here can be an amazing experience especially for a foreigner .Kaurila is surly as traditional as a wood-stove sauna summer house could be. The dim candle-lit sauna gives a smooth moist heat, and change room is rustic , so if you are in Helsinki do not miss it .

Beautiful view but expensive. Also very small but cozy, especially in the weekends it’s hard to get a table but worth to go to see the view!

Just completed the 2 hour free walking tour with Alvaro, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Helsinki. Great overview covering history, architecture, politics and culture which makes me want to know much more about the Finns and Finland. Thank you, Green Cap Tour's!

We decided to make the tour in spite of the rainy weather, but it was worth it. On the top deck it was freezong cold but it is the best place to take pictures.

Very cool trip through the city with an excellent guide. We enjoyed this ride very much. A bit of history and culture, not too crowded ride, passing a few icons of the city!
