Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- An Average ReviewerSingapore, Singapore95 contributionsThe iconic place where they filmed the Darude Sandstorm music video.
A lot of steps to climb to reach the cathedral. There is an entry fee for this church.
Simple yet striking architecture..
A part of the building was undergoing restoration. There was an installation of a huge globe in the middle of the church when I was there. We were allowed to access to the 2nd level in the church.Written 13 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Inside is a treasure trove of history dating back hundred of years ago. The intricate decorations compliments the old still of the building. The only downside is the presence of many pickpocketeers who are disguised as tourist especially on the patio and the staircase going up inside the church.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CelestescheepersLidingo, Sweden22 contributionsHelsinki was as charming as always- all the festive christmas lights everywhere.. The Julmarket had finished the previous day, but everything else was still there. Oodi Labrary is something else , you can spend hours just lazing there ( and eat and go to ghe toilet) in the nice open warm spaces. Helsinki Museum is also eorth dome time. And then - always arrange a Free Walking Tour, where you tip the guide accordingly. You always learn something new and discover hidden gems through thrm.
And last but not least, do an sauna and swim right there almost in town, next to the quay.Written 7 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Download the HSL-app before arriving in Helsinki; buy the ABC card for the number of fays of your stay to enjoy worry-free (train) travel from the airport all the way into the city center, and thereafter use of trams, busses, the Metro and even the ferry to Suomenlinna Fortress.Written 25 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was a little market going on with really nice items and some sort of military band.Written 24 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada9,261 contributionsThe art museum is located just outside the central train station in Helsinki and looks impressive from the outside. We visited Helsinki during a very rainy period at the end of December and this was the perfect indoor activity for our last day here.
The art is displayed in a good sequence through the main collection on the first two floors but the third floor contains a Gothic Modern exhibit. The main floor had plenty to check out on its own including a very interesting interactive exhibit that was tucked away. The Gothic Modern area was easily the busiest part of the museum and was very well done with several paintings, sculptures and displays for the exhibit. The museum adds and borrows pieces through private donations or for studying so there are many popular works from artists all over Europe but the focus is on Finnish art.
Tickets are 22 euros and there are special rates for seniors, students and children. There is a city pass in Helsinki that this museum is included in so if you plan on doing a lot the pass might be worth the cost. You aren't allowed to bring much into the exhibition areas but there are plenty of free lockers and coat hangers to keep your items. You can easily spend 2 hours here or more depending on your interest level. The cafes (one on the main floor and one at the end of the main exhibit) would have been a nice stop if we had more time.
The museum is very close to the central train station and there is very frequent tram service around the area too. It is a short walk to other major attractions in Helsinki like Senate Square and Esplanadi.Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Apart from its core function, as a main transport hub in Helsinki, it is a must see touristic objective in the city due to its innovative architectural style, one of the best known of Finnish architecture.Written 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a bit of a jolty ride at times, and I did wake up at around 3.50am when we reached the Åland Islands because of that, but I don't regret it because I went on deck and got some beautiful pictures of the archipelago and the sunset. The several hours before reaching Stockholm were filled with so many beautiful islands and houses on the lake to see so highly recommend getting a coffee and sitting on deck 2 hours before arrival. Food and drink was predictably expensive, but not too bad. There was onboard entertainment but we didn't attend. There's a duty free style shop that's quite extensive also. The bar at the back sun deck was great, but the benches all along the side were also wonderful for sight seeing. Definitely the recommended way to enter Stockholm.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RKTKFMSingapore, Singapore61 contributionsA high end shopping centre with full of choices but there seems to be no discount for Finnish residents and a 10% discount for tourists. Don’t know when is their sales period.Written 23 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Monta GRiga, Latvia16 contributionsWe had to wait in line for about 30-40 minutes to buy tickets, but everything else was good. It was -3 degrees outside, so it was very relaxing to enjoy the time in sauna and outside pool. What we liked the most was the large sauna with a panoramic view of the city, but swimming pool outside was little bit cold for me, if pool would be a few degrees hotter, then it would be cool!Written 2 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hzh30Copenhagen, Denmark394 contributionsWe enjoyed our stay in Kiasma and bought gifts from the museum shop. The Tom of Finland exhibitions was good but little bit too much. I like to VR as part of the show, but photographs are too many. And I also like to Photo exhibitions og the Nigerian artist Fani-Kayode, but there were only few of his work on the wall. We are missing some more different exhibitions from younger generation and maybe they can use part of the Tom of Finland exhibitions rooms for something else to give more variaty.Written 7 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - purplemyrtlesKent, UK348 contributionsWow what a gem, if you like books and libraries you’ll love this place with its very old grand design. Free entry so well worth a look. It’s just opposite the main Cathedral behind Senate Square so very central location. Very friendly greeting on arrival, where you need to leave all coats and bags in free lockers and you pick up a free information guide.Written 4 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very quiet and the views over the harbour are a treat.
My favourite were the HUGE icebreakers moored during their summer break. They are enormous machines. Good signage dotted around too.Written 29 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The museum is situated just off the Senate Square. The staff were all very friendly and spoke good English. They have a nice gift shop, cafe and clean toilets inside. The museum is spread over several floors and has a wide range of exhibits with many designed to interest children, although plenty for the adults to see as well! The museum gives you a history of Helsinki with photos and exhibits including rooms to show how people lived in the past. There was also a large model showing the city. Well worth a visit especially if it's raining!Written 31 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ravindra VHyderabad, India1,662 contributionsThis skywheel is one way of looking at the city of Helsinki. Though you will not see a lot but still a good view.
