Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a very interesting building! I didn’t particularly like it, but there’s no doubt that it is an architecturally clever design. There was a modest entry fee and I’m glad we took a look. If visiting Helsinki I’d say it is a “must see”.

Unusual, quirky architecture for a church/chapel. It is rather a small church/chapel. It might be too quiet for those used to the bustling of the city but a nice place to escape if you need a temporary moment of silence.
There is no entry fee in October so do check out this place if you are around this area.

Our bus tour stopped here for 20 or 30 minutes so that we could take a wander through the park on a chilly December day. The Sibelius Monument is a central focus of the park. It is an odd piece of abstract sculpture but very interesting and totally of its era (1967). The park itself isn’t that big but well worth a visit for a wander round

My husband and I visited during our visit to Helsinki.

There are several floors to explore with different subjects. We particularly enjoyed the skeletons!

There are activities for young children as you work around the museum.

It was a great way to learn about Finland's nature.

Couple of points to note - this museum isn't included in the Helsinki Card and you'll need an audio guide as not all exhibits are in English (free to download in English with free WiFi in the museum).

It is a good museum in an attractive building. It is a fine introduction to the histolry of Finland. I expect it will be even better in 2027 after its multi-year renovation which will be starting soon.

Quite a central location. We discovered this as we had to take a bus to Seeurasaari Island.
The mall is located above the bus station and the metro station.
I was very impressed with the way the bus station is organised.
The mall has a huge variety of stores and eateries.
If you want to explore and shop for the mid range brands , this place is a great option and is well connected too.

This is a small shopping complex as well but you really go there to see strange but wonderful art design that is behind it. To me it looked like lots of octopus heads with their one large eye made from white stone and glass for the eyes. In the middle lies a plain clock tower and three large lime green coloured sculptures in complete contrast to everything else. It shouldn’t really work but somehow it just does

It’s a bit out of the way of the city centre but we were in the area and stumbled upon this sculpture.
It’s fantastically done, the eyes are a tad creepy but it’s huge and a wonderful piece of art. It’s a shame it was’t peeing, as I’ve seen it online where it is and it looks very cool.
Overall a fascinating sculpture but wouldn’t say it’s a must see when visiting Helsinki.

After visiting the Stockman Department Store, I crossed the street and visited this Shopping Center. Initially! I thought it was a hotel, but when I saw some of its customers coming out of the store with shopping bags, I realized that it is another big store.

I briefly walked around and checked out their merchandises and prices. Did not buy anything here, having purchased stuffs that I needed at the Stockman Department Store.

The museum is owned and operated by the city of Helsinki. It looks after the city's art collection, containing over 9,000 works. Nearly half of these are on display in public places such as parks, streets, schools, and libraries. The art museum hosts a small permanent exhibition of the works of Tove Jansson, including two large frescoes created for the restaurant of Helsinki City Hall.[3]

Easily reached from Sibelius Park, there are leafy paths around the bay that lead to this little sandy sanctuary. The area has a nice atmosphere and the beach is clean. It feels like you are amongst mostly locals here, although there are certainly a good number of tourists too. Overall, it’s a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon.

A well tended cemetery on the western edge of Helsinki, easily reached by a 20 minute walk from the main railway station. At the very end is a military cemetery with grave markers of soldiers from World War II. There are other notable graves including for Finnish presidents and statesmen in addition to the city’s notables going back over 200 years. A section devoted to artists have creative art work as memorials. Restrooms are available and there are beautiful flower beds.

I went for a lovely afternoon walk around the bay and spent some time watching the ducks on the edge of the melting ice. I also saw an area where people had set up bird feeders further around towards the Southern shoreline which was very busy with smaller birds having a snack.
It seemed like a popular area for joggers, dog walkers and families out enjoying some sunshine not far from the city center. Nearby is Finlandia hall (currently closed for refurbishment - March 2023), as well as the Finnish National Opera building as you head north. There are also some lovely wooden houses to look at as well.

There are a lot of waterfront areas in this seaside city. Lots of ferries coming and going. We arrived on a cruise ship, so we were right on the sea. This particular harbor is vast and an important part of the entire area.

THIS IS A GREAT SWIMMING HALL 🏊🏽‍♀️. I just had to shout it out. Go here if you want a calm atmosphere, no annoying children yelling, playing and running, your own cubicle where you can rest, and lovely architecture. The extra fee for the 2nd floor facilities (e.g. own cubicle, steam room, wood burning sauna) is money well spent. Please observe that they apply a gendered admission schedule, so there's no need for swimming pants.
