Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Rajesh K KBengaluru, India1,901 contributionsTook the Silja Serenade cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm. Cruise commenced at 5 pm and reached Stockholm at 10 am local time the next day - exactly on time! Boarding/disembarking was a bit of a mess - everyone was waiting to get on or off, so some rush. Also, the escalator in Helsinki stopped working for a while and the only lift was packed!
We entered the ship on Level 7 - The Promenade. There were staff to help guide us to our respective floors/decks. We had booked A-Class cabins, which were on Level 10. Sufficient lifts inside the ship. The cabins were tiny but had sea-facing windows. The bathroom was also tiny, especially the shower. There are no amenities other than soap from wall dispensers. Decent internet within the cabins. There was some civil work happening on the deck above, which they stopped only at 7 pm and again started at 9 the next morning. This was disturbing - why can't they do this work when no passengers are on board? The rooms were simple - 2 foldable beds, sheets, and a thin good-for-nothing pillow. Water from the tap only.
The rest of the ship was pretty amazing! The top deck, 12, offered excellent views and pictures. Rather windy though! It also had a bar, if one fancied a drink. Level 7, the Promenade, was where all the bars/restaurants/shops were. Plenty of them! The ship also had a duty-free store on Level 6 with a great selection. Also, a casino and some live shows.
I was a bit apprehensive of motion sickness, but there was next to no motion at all! Pretty smooth sailing! The ship was well-maintained. There was a Grande Buffet hall on Level 6, for dinner and breakfast. Good options but rather crowded. Free, unlimited beer and wine. I had the beer, which was just so-so. Food was good.
All in all, a pleasant cruise.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a bit of a jolty ride at times, and I did wake up at around 3.50am when we reached the Ă…land Islands because of that, but I don't regret it because I went on deck and got some beautiful pictures of the archipelago and the sunset. The several hours before reaching Stockholm were filled with so many beautiful islands and houses on the lake to see so highly recommend getting a coffee and sitting on deck 2 hours before arrival. Food and drink was predictably expensive, but not too bad. There was onboard entertainment but we didn't attend. There's a duty free style shop that's quite extensive also. The bar at the back sun deck was great, but the benches all along the side were also wonderful for sight seeing. Definitely the recommended way to enter Stockholm.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I felt the day ticket was a good value.Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ian CLondon, UK23,656 contributionsWe were staying a short walk away from Market Square, so it was an easy walk for us to the dock area to catch the ferry for the short 20/25 minute or so journey across to the fortress, with one interim stop in each direction.
The ferry was efficient - arriving and leaving on time with two decks, one covered and one open, which is best in good weather as it gives you good views as you travel. On our way back, the weather became more windy, so upstairs was for the hardy explorers.
They also serve a limited range of refreshments for you to buy for your journey.Written 15 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. No personalisation or anything, no explanation despite taking full payment days before.
I had to ask them why, they explained the ferry broke down and required repairs. I had to quickly scramble accommodation and activities for Helsinki as I hadn't expected to stay in Helsinki at all.Written 4 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can choose a very short boat transfer from Merisatama (N.B. this dock isn't at Kauppatori Market Square) to Uunisaari (Restaurant Uunisaari) and Liuskaluoto/Liuskasaari (Restaurant Skiffer and HSS Restaurant) or longer archipelago cruises. I especially love cruising to Pentala Archipelago Museum (read separate Tripadvisor reviews, departure points in Suomenoja, Suinonsalmi, Soukka/Klobben, Laurinlahti and Kivenlahti, Espoo) or outer islands (Stora Herrö, Rövaren and Gåsgrund). They have special transfers for bikers, too. Charter cruises from Kauppatori and Hakaniemi are also available but they are very expensive, e.g. round trip to Helsinki Biennial for 1-20 people 750 euros.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
