Helsinki has a great tram network and I was happy to buy a 3 day ticket and just ride for miles. Unusually the heating was still on in the trams in the middle of May but mother nature had not yet decided to close the freezer door.

I photographed the network at one of the stops onto my mobile and this made it easy to check exactly where we were and where to go next.

There is an app for the trams which can be used to buy tickets and so on.

The trams are modern and absolutely spotless and give a very smooth ride.

We often choose Silja Europa on our return journey from Tallinn. The departure time at 12:30 is very convenient if you stay in a hotel.

The journey time is 3,5 hours. There is enough time to do the 'tax-free' shopping and have a pleasant lunch before arrival in Helsinki at 16:00.

The price for two including a B2 cabin was 66 euros. For that price, you would get two or three Helsinki-Tallinn-Helsinki cruises in the same cabin. One-way trips are always more expensive.

This time, there were more people on board because it had been a Friday departure from Helsinki. Many had still the party going on and the noise levels were high.

Our lunch at Grill House restaurant was luckily calmer. Friendly service and tasty food. It was our best meal on this trip.

This is one way to have lunch while being in Helsinki. We booked a picnic cruise to Tallinn. On Friday Viking XPRS departs at 14:15 and is back in Helsinki at 20:00.

Two cruise tickets, buffet lunches, and a Lux cabin were 154 euros. I had 900 Viking boats and could use them for paying. So I got 9 euros off.

The cabin was 72 euros. A standard window cabin would have been 36 euros. For the extra 36 euros, we got more space, bow view, and cabin minibar.

Was it worth it? Yes, the public spaces onboard Viking XPRS are not so nice to spend time in. There is a dark bar and a not-so-pleasant self-service cafeteria.

The buffet was quite good. New for us was that there were two warm dishes (pork and salmon) pre-set so that they were like you would get them in an a la carte restaurant. Tap wine and beer are included in the price.

The ship was in Tallinn for only 45 minutes. On this cruise, you cannot go out to Tallinn.

We had two metro trips: from Helsinki Central Station to Keilaniemi and back from Tapiola to Helsinki Central Station.

You pay by zones (AB, BC, or ABC) and can connect with buses, trams, and local trains in the same zones.

The most practical way to buy a ticket is using the HSL app. There are also ticket-selling machines.

Helsinki metro was opened in August 1982. Länsimetro, which opened in November 2017, expanded the metro lines from the city center to the west, via Lauttasaari to southern Espoo.

The Helsinki metro is served by two lines: M1 between Matinkylä and Vuosaari and M2 between Tapiola and Mellunmäki.

The line will be continued to Kivenlahti Espoo in autumn 2022 or in early 2023. The building works are ready but the testing is still going on.

After holiday in Helsinki we had to go to the airport, were looking for bus transport which would take 1 hour, we were told do take the train which is much faster.
Did go to the CS and in a kiosk we did by tickets ABC to the airport at 4,60Euro p.p. when you go to the platform go rigth an some may be 100 meters and you will find the trains.
You can not by tickets on the train.
It is a new and very modern train which during the day leave every 15 minuts, there are some stop on the tour, but you a inform well.
It did take 1/2 hour to the airport and you arrive under ground the airport.
We will for sure use this train from and to the airport in the future

For the trip to the fortress of Suomenlinna, I took the ferry. There is a single ticket for Helsinki public transport on the ferry. For example, if you have a one-time ticket or a daily travel card, feel free to get on board! Ferries depart from the eastern side of Kauppatori Square, opposite the Presidential Palace.

Check-in at ports of departure is smooth. The outbound trip was a little looser on board. There are some differences in the Mare Balticum of the ships: Finnstar's restaurant seems to be weaker than others, e.g. the breakfast selection is poorer and the orange juice is dilute. Staff on ships polite and professional.

We were staying a short walk away from Market Square, so it was an easy walk for us to the dock area to catch the ferry for the short 20/25 minute or so journey across to the fortress, with one interim stop in each direction.

The ferry was efficient - arriving and leaving on time with two decks, one covered and one open, which is best in good weather as it gives you good views as you travel. On our way back, the weather became more windy, so upstairs was for the hardy explorers.

They also serve a limited range of refreshments for you to buy for your journey.

On a fine sunny and calm morning we took the 10am ferry to Tallinn. Just after 12 noon we had arrived in Viru, Old Town in Tallinn.

After a delightful afternoon sightseeing we arrived back at the terminal for the 5pm return trip.

The ferries were punctual and the journeys very pleasant in both directions.

To get the chance to see more of the countryside of Finland we booked a trip there and back to Tampere on the recommendation of our lovely Finnair Air Stewardess wo lived there.

180ish kilometres each way took about 1 hour 30 minutes each way and we saw that the farmers were out ploughing their fields and about 6 to 8 weeks behind the UK.

Sadly we did not see any reindeer or moose except a stuffed reindeer in Stockman, the Harrods of the North.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the lounge because it was so empty as there were hardly any flights due to Covid. Food selection was great, well presented and tasted fresh. Great time to relax before our next flight

The agency sent out what seemed was a blast email cancelling my trip. No personalisation or anything, no explanation despite taking full payment days before.

I had to ask them why, they explained the ferry broke down and required repairs. I had to quickly scramble accommodation and activities for Helsinki as I hadn't expected to stay in Helsinki at all.

We organized the meeting in Helsinki in July’19 and GOOD TRANSFER was responsible for arrival/departure transfers for participants.
It was very easy and quick to consider details of required services as well as provide the payment by card. Furthermore, they have advised us the best options in accordance with flights’ schedule and number of quests in order to save our budget))).
We are satisfied with GOOD TRANSFER’s services and recommend for any purposes.
    Thank you for your job!
