Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Michele L1 contributionWe attended a Saturday night performance of The Magic Flute. First let me say that the building was magnificent, both inside and out. We ordered tickets over the phone and got the ‘pensioner’ price. Wow! We were told that they were the last 2 tickets and since the house was totally full, I can believe it. Opera seems to be alive and well in Finland. This version of The Magic Flute was different from what we expected and we absolutely loved it. The only disappointment was that we didn’t know you should order food before the performance and there wasn’t much available when we went during intermission. Otherwise, an excellent excursion.Written 21 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anonymous855Trabuco Canyon, California1,592 contributionsWe wanted to see the music hall but the organ was being "voiced" so it was closed off. However, on line I saw that there was a free musical event on the patio that evening and we sat there. Fruit drinks were delicious and there were lap blankets if it got too cold. The duo played folk music which is great in any language. Loved the hour we stayed there before walking across to the new library. - Heli PHelsinki, Finland6,283 contributionsThe season has finally started also at the Swedish language theater showing both light entertainment like Mary Poppins and thought provoking contemporary drama. Growing old is the theme in 'Is it hot here?", a monologue about menopause and "Daddy" dealing with Altzheimer's disease. Subtitles are available in Finnish and Swedish on an application. Dating back to the 1860's the building has gone through many renovations and the interior looks like a mix with Greek gods and chandeliers.Written 29 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - June ASurrey, UK2,486 contributionsThe Finnish National Theatre is a suitably ornate early 20th Century building that sits adjacent to the railway station in the centre of town. I am told there are a variety of different performances to suit varied tastes but did not have the chance to partake.Written 30 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland29,629 contributionsThis sparkling musical full of famous disco hits and glitter was so entertaining. It was at least as good as the movie released in 1994. The staging and the costumes were fabulous.Written 13 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland29,629 contributionsThis theater building was completed in 1879. It is named after Russian Tsar Alexander II.
The Finnish National Opera and Ballet performed in the premises until 1993 when they moved to the new Opera House on the Töölö Bay.
Since 1993, the theater has been used for visiting stage performances of various genres.
The exterior has started to decay and is in need of renovation.Written 27 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Otherwise Lasipalatsi has this theater, shops, restaurants etc and in 2017 a museum.Written 29 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BusterMumLeeds, UK186 contributionsVisited the Savoy Theatre to see The Dublin Legends. A fantastic night of great music performed by talented musicians and vocalists.
Although a little dated, the theatre was comfortable - excellent leg room, comfy seats and good views of the stage even though we were towards the back of the theatre.
Bit of a maze to find and very long queues for the toilets.
The bar was busy but the staff were efficient and we were served without long delays. There were very few seats in the bar area which made it seem very crowded.
Theatre staff were very helpful giving directions after the show. Thank you directions were much appreciated.Written 8 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JariJKKouvola, Finland5,322 contributionsDance Theater Hurjaruuth is very interesting and versatile. Their main venue is Cable Factory (Kaapelitehdas) in Ruoholahti but they have shows in many other places, too. We saw their international circus show named Talvisirkus Bau. It was an extremely interesting, artistic circus performance for the whole family in Pannuhalli, Cable Factory. Next year (December 2020 - January 2021) their winter circus show will be performed in Suvilahti (Kattilahalli). They have very interesting performances for young children, too. Actually children are the targent audience of their most shows.Written 29 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - liliananatukundakStockholm, Sweden28 contributionsStoryville is has really good jazz acts every so often. The music space is downstairs (upstairs has bar and food) but I went in for the music:). 10 euros for entry atlas for the night I was there. There is coat check for a fee and this is advisable because during a Helsinki winter you do not want to be carrying your coat all night. The music was really a treat (Amy Winehouse tribute night) really great band that played a wonderful set. The space is rather tight and moving around to get a drink could prove difficult with a full house. One had to wait for intermission and the bar tenders were good with several serving points. Generally Storyville is a great place if you are looking for live Jazz in Helsinki area.Written 17 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - niinan2Nurmijarvi, Finland1,587 contributionsI was looking for something to do with a friend on a Saturday evening and ended up here. The ticked for the stand up night was 10euros (including cloak room) so it was cheap. The staff was very friendly and the decor was nice.
The Finnish stand up comedians were not that enjoyable; their attitude is "sorry I'm here" and it's annoying. Luckily the host of the Comedy club (27.10.18) was great and Paul Westlakes performance was energetic and enjoyable. 10euros well spent; I would go again :DWritten 28 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
