On the back ground stands the Swedish Embassy combining our two past monarchs in the same picture. - Heli PHelsinki, Finland6,283 contributionsThe famous Finnish chocolate brand Fazer gave the modern Rooster sculpture by Björn Weckström to the city when celebrating the centennial of their cafeteria at Kluuvikatu. The sculptor is best known internationally for his space theme jewellery collection including the Galactic tops necklace Princess Leia wore in the first Star Wars movie. It is still sold in solid silver around the corner at Kalevala Koru. The artist himself donated another sculpture, the Whistling townie to the city to honour the friendliness, helpfullness and tolerance of the people of Helsinki. - IrinaUnited States10,274 contributionsThe memorable bronze statue, commemorating the Finnish writer Aleksis Kiven (1834 - 1872), is located in a very prominent historic part of Helsinki - at the farther end of Helsinki Railway Square (Rautatientori). The statue is excellently placed under the shade of a tree, in front of it there are colorful flowerbeds, and some benches.

The 4.5-meter high bronze sculpture was unveiled in 1898.
The monument depicts a shipwrecked family. The father, the central figure in the group, holds a small child in his arms and is calling for help.
The sculpture faces West which has also been interpreted symbolically. Turns out he's very important to the Finnish people having written their national epic, "Kalevala." He was over 50 years old when elected to the Senate but was determined and quick to get two important projects realized, language and currency. Already in the 1860's, a half century before Finlands independence he reached directly out to the Czar Alexander II to negotiate the language deal giving Finns the right to use their own language instead of Swedish and Russian. Our national currency, markka was the next achievement, Finnish silver coins replacing the ruble notes. Johan Runeberg was a poet born in 1804 and died in 1877. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland29,651 contributions"Maternal Love" is a sculpture featuring the tender relationship of a mare and a foal. In 1930 the work was erected in a small Varsapuistikko park at the corner of Unioninkatu and Kaisaniemenkatu. It is cast in bronze.
Horses were a favorite subject for the sculptor Emil Cedercreutz. Marshal C.G.E. Mannerheim has said “Anyone can make a sculpture of me, but only Emil Cedercreutz can sculpt the horse underneath me.”.
The work belongs to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum. This bronze statue by Johannes Haapasalo depicts two naked boxers in action. The bronze work is 5,35 meters high and its red granite pedestal 3 meters high. Made of recycled colorful plastic panels the big bird Kuukkeli from 2016 by Villu Janisoo gazes over pedestrians near the Kalasatama, Fish Harbour metro station. Down by the sea on the small square with steps leading to the water the large pink steel sculpture Early one morning, Eternity by Jacob Dahlgren from 2019 is used by children to climb on.
