Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very peaceful, beautiful. Managed to time my visit with an organ practice/concert and the sound was amazing. Something to see but without the organ playing would have been a very short visit.

Very gtand cathedral that's worth a visit. I didn't stay inside for too long, had a lovely opulent feel to it. Is walking distance from the centre but need to get up quite a few steps to get to it.

This church is out on the island. It’s nice looking. Not large. The boat chain fences around it are nice. The lilacs in the area smell great. A nice spot.

When the Ulrika Eleonora Church was demolished for the future site of Senate Square to build the Helsinki Cathedral the Old Church was constructed in 1826. All the plans were by the architect C.L. Engel himself, creator of the Neo Classical city center resembling St.Petersburg so much it has been used in Hollywood films. Built from heavy wooden logs after the Czar's orders most of the interior was moved from Ulrika Eleonora like the pulpit with gilded decorations dating back to 1726. A grander organ was later ordered and the plain cross substituted with Robert Ekman's altarpiece. Though the church was aimed to be temporary it is now the oldest in Helsinki and hasn't luckily never been burnt down.

Mikael Agricola Church is a Lutheran church located in the Punavuori district of Helsinki. We were drawn to it by the massive spire on top, very impressive against the skyline

This church in Kaivopuisto is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Helsinki. The church was completed in 1860 when Finland was a Grand Duchy of Imperial Russia. It is one of the oldest neo-Gothic churches in Finland.

The red-brick exterior is dominated by the tall bell-tower over the entrance. Statues of Saint Henry, Saint Peter, and Saint Paul decorate the entrance.

The interior is illuminated by twelve beautiful stained-glass windows.

Fronting the prestigious Hotel St George, this peaceful park is perfect for just relaxing. But looking back , it has a creepy name before, the plague park. Many died of the killer plague several hundred years ago , and it was like a cemetery, better yet , a graveyard.

The German Church is located in Kaartinkaupunki at the end of Unioninkatu next to the Observatory Hill Park.

This Neo-Gothic style church was completed in 1864. The high tower is very prominent.

The church is one of the most popular wedding churches in Helsinki. It is also often used for concerts.

The church was closed during our visit. So we couldn't see the interior.

The Art Nouveau facade of the synagogue designed in 1906 by Johan Jacob Ahrenberg shines with gold decorations after the recently finalized restoration. It is not possible to walk in to admire the interior as the building is strictly guarded. The Jewish community in Finland is quite small and tight, you might be able to visit if you know someone personally.

Paul's Church is located in Vallila. The church is named after the apostle Paul.

The church was completed in 1930 according to the plans of architect Bertel Liljequist.

The church was closed on our visit. So we couldn't see the interior.

The exterior is stunning and quite unusual from other churches in Finland. In the summer heat, we got the feeling that we are in Tuscany, Italy. There is a beautiful courtyard.
