Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most cathedrals or churches looks the same after a while but what makes this so unique is the rock formation of this church. Pretty cool.

The Greek Orthodox Church is worth visiting when in Helsinki. Inside is a treasure trove of history dating back hundred of years ago. The intricate decorations compliments the old still of the building. The only downside is the presence of many pickpocketeers who are disguised as tourist especially on the patio and the staircase going up inside the church.

This place of worship is categorised as a Cathedral but it's more akin to a church given that it's not that big. It stands on the edge of Kaivopuisto Park and it's exterior is pleasant to the eye. It's main entrance is a central large steeple in terracotta brick with a green triangle to the top and bronze cross to it's peak. There are some white figurines half way up along with two smaller steeples each side both with green triangle points. Inside it has dark wood high beams with decorative small chandeliers.
The altar is simplistic but beautiful with it's lovely coloured glass windows behind it. There's also larger coloured glass windows that adorn the full length of the church on both sides which are exquisite. A large organ can be found above the front entrance.

When the Ulrika Eleonora Church was demolished for the future site of Senate Square to build the Helsinki Cathedral the Old Church was constructed in 1826. All the plans were by the architect C.L. Engel himself, creator of the Neo Classical city center resembling St.Petersburg so much it has been used in Hollywood films. Built from heavy wooden logs after the Czar's orders most of the interior was moved from Ulrika Eleonora like the pulpit with gilded decorations dating back to 1726. A grander organ was later ordered and the plain cross substituted with Robert Ekman's altarpiece. Though the church was aimed to be temporary it is now the oldest in Helsinki and hasn't luckily never been burnt down.

This is a simple church with whitewashed walls and little in the way of glitz. There appears to be a lighthouse on top of it.

Fronting the prestigious Hotel St George, this peaceful park is perfect for just relaxing. But looking back , it has a creepy name before, the plague park. Many died of the killer plague several hundred years ago , and it was like a cemetery, better yet , a graveyard.

Helsinki Synagogue is located in the Kamppi neighborhood next to Radisson Blu Royal Hotel.

The synagogue is the cause of why the hotel has two wings. Now the hotel building doesn't cover the beautiful synagogue.

The Jewish Community in Helsinki is one of the most northern Jewish communities in the world. Finland has another synagogue in Turku.

Helsinki Synagogue was completed in 1906, six years before the one in Turku.

Like in many other synagogues, it was not possible to get inside. So we could admire the building only from outside.

Mikael Agricola Church is a Lutheran church located in the Punavuori district of Helsinki. We were drawn to it by the massive spire on top, very impressive against the skyline

The German Church is located in Kaartinkaupunki at the end of Unioninkatu next to the Observatory Hill Park.

This Neo-Gothic style church was completed in 1864. The high tower is very prominent.

The church is one of the most popular wedding churches in Helsinki. It is also often used for concerts.

The church was closed during our visit. So we couldn't see the interior.

Paul's Church is located in Vallila. The church is named after the apostle Paul.

The church was completed in 1930 according to the plans of architect Bertel Liljequist.

The church was closed on our visit. So we couldn't see the interior.

The exterior is stunning and quite unusual from other churches in Finland. In the summer heat, we got the feeling that we are in Tuscany, Italy. There is a beautiful courtyard.
