Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Elisa R2 contributionsA truly charming forest to visit for walks and camping. Fresh air, loads of space and paths to follow.
Do remember: dogs are to kept in leash in national parks.Written 6 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only about 35 minutes from Helsinki, Kaitalampi lake in Luukki recreation area provides nice trails and several cooking shelters for spending a day outdoors.Written 24 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland30,583 contributionsThis specialty museum of play, toys, and childhood can be found in Tapiola. The last time we visited in 2018, the museum was located in the WeeGee Exhibition Center next door. Now it has got its own building.
This time there was so much action going on in this museum that we didn't take our shoes off but proceeded to EMMA which was our main goal. However, we made a short visit to the small Finnish Bell and Jewelry Museum Kruunu next door in the same building.Written 24 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely worth visit.Written 11 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JariJKKouvola, Finland5,324 contributionsI took a metro train (a subway) from Helsinki city center to Aalto University and walked from there to the southern point of Laajalahti Nature Reserve in Otaniemi. It took less than five minutes to walk there.
There are walking and biking routes, duckboards (biking not allowed), some picnic tables, three bird watching towers and cows in the pasture within the precincts of Laajalahti Nature Reserve. About 100 nesting bird species have been seen there.
Villa Elfvik is the visitor center of Laajalahti Nature Reserve. This Art Nouveau villa was built in 1904. You also find Cafe Elfvik (read separate Tripadvisor reviews) in the villa. The distance from the southern point of the nature reserve to the villa is about 2.7 kilometers. There are short nature trails around the villa. Some of them are accessible. You can borrow a pair of binoculars from the information desk.
Villa Elfvik is situated near the ring road named Ring 1. There are parking places and a city bike station near the villa. So this northern part of the nature reserve is also a good starting point. Remember to visit the upstairs of the villa, too. You find a butterfly collection and a small playground there.
There is also an archaeological site next to the villa. A brick factory was located there in the 18th century. A faience factory was established in the old brick factory at the turn of the 19th century.
I wasn't sure if I should give the rating of three or four stars. Laajalahti Nature Reserve deserves four stars as a nature area in the metropolitan area. However, this isn't a very good nature area if you think the whole country. There are countless nature areas which are much better elsewhere in Finland.Written 25 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We bough water and food, bed sheets… everything necessary was here… if you want just to be in leaveWritten 13 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland30,583 contributionsTapiola is one of the major urban centers of Espoo. The name Tapiola is derived from Tapio, who is the forest god of Finnish mythology.
Tapiola was largely constructed in the 1950s and 1960s and was designed as a garden city. Its architecture and landscaping combine urban living with nature.
Since our last visit in 2018, there have come many new buildings. The mall Ainoa is ready. However, many of the older concrete buildings show signs of decay and are in desperate need of reconstruction.
Tapiola is the location of the Espoo Cultural Center, the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA), the Espoo City Museum, and the Espoo City Theatre.Written 24 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The terrain is flat, you go along the seashore, which provides very nice views. You can stop to swim on many small beaches around or simply for a coffee and cake. For that, I highly recommend Villa Rulludd, which has decent prices and delicious small salty buffet same as sweet treats and compulsory coffee. There is a tiny museum on the second floor for free. There are many interesting points, where you can stop and explore Finnish nature. Summer is an ideal time for doing it since all the coffee shops are opened and small harbors are full of small boats. Moreover, the daylight is long, so you don't have to rush.Written 5 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Short runways.
the one for beginners is very short and has no slope. The next one has a huge slope.

There are hills with open rocks and ancient fir trees. The reserve was an island in Litorina sea 6000 to 8000 years ago. Very easy to access but provides good hiking for an hour or two, on the top you can see the sea 3km away.Written 24 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
