Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Simonetta L.Foligno, Italy5 contributionsI had an "aurora hunting" with Thomas Kast in the northern area of Oulu and although we didn't see the aurora, due to the cloudy sky, it was a very interesting trip. We travelled across nice white forests, full of snow and it was very magical, the van was large and comfortable.
Thomas is a very reliable person, very competent, kind, nice and honest. It's worth taking part in his trip even if it is not sure to see aurora.Written 1 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Best place to do some snowkiting in Finland.Written 24 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mette H.Copenhagen, Denmark2 contributionsMy two friends and I visited Loihakka in November 2019. There was a lot of snow in Oulu at the times, but unfortunately not enough to go on a sleigh trip. But we still wanted to visit the husky farm, and I was a great experince!! Maja was a kind host, who told us ALL about the dogs. You can really tell, that this family loves their dogs. Maja could tell the names of all the dogs, when they where born and so on. She anwsered all of our questions with great patience and humor - not just about the huskies but about Finish culture as well :-)
We will have to come back another times to go on a sleigh trip!!Written 12 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The instructors were super nice and professional and given how beautiful Oulu's nature is during the summer, it was an amazing experience!Written 21 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelinJayMontreal, Canada56 contributionsWe took the Nalikari tour at the suggestion of our guide, Kari. High quality bikes and gear, plus the fact that Kari sized the bikes to our heights made our ride comfortable and fun. A great mix of forest trails, groomed paths and beaches gave us a real taste of the area in and around Oulu. Kari is a friendly and outgoing guide, sharing a wealth of knowledge about the area and various sights along the way. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Oulu.Written 11 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- keppisHelsinki, Finland17 contributionsA really spacious sauna with a huge stove guarantees perfect sauna experience. Ice hole swimming is a must here and with an extra fee you can also use jacuzzi. Friendly staff with cold drinks. Could be quite crowded. Dont miss this!Written 30 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David G11 contributionsI went a little scare because I didn't know if I was going to be capable of resist the cold, but Tommy was really helpful and supportive during all the time, also he was a great host and help me to find other nice places to visit.
The ice experience was incredible and I needed to rent part of the gear because I couldn't transport all. They had really good quality of gear and good prize.

Chocolates are handmade on the site and you can also have a cup of coffee or tea there. Chocolates are amazing :)Written 29 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Teresa H1 contributionPasi was an incredible tour guide. I contacted Pasi about his new Northern Lights Tour two days prior to see if he was available and I am so happy he was! Not only did he pick me up from my hotel, but he had fun adventures planned while we waited for the lights to show. We snow skiid on a frozen sea (he was very patient in teaching me), snow shoed though the forest where we saw a very clear sky and many beautiful stars, and had tea/coffee and cookies during a break. Given that seeing the lights is not guaranteed...just having these experiences along with Pasi's company made the tour amazing in and of itself. Pasi is very knowledgeable about the lights, nature, and has a great intuition so at the end of the tour...we saw the lights! It was so beautiful and he made sure to get pictures of the sky and of me with the lights in the background. It was amazing to get that bucket list item checked off! I very strongly recommend Pasi as a tour guide!Written 11 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bostonbased557 contributionsWe prefer to vacation without a rental car, but enjoy nature outside the city, so this tour was the perfect choice. Hanna was early to pick us up, and drove us to the woods near Oulu while answering our questions about northern Finland. Sometimes after a vacation I feel like I've been so busy that I need a vacation to recover from my vacation, but spending time in nature was restorative. Hanna explained how she leads walks in the woods, so we knew what to expect. The scenery was beautiful, the air smelled incredibly fresh, and the breeze blowing through the treetops was soothing. It was nice to spend quiet time in nature, followed by a few minutes of talking near the lake. I didn't want it to end. We cannot recommend this tour highly enough. The walk was not strenuous, but does require some balance and stability over tree roots. If you like peace and quiet in nature, this is for you.Written 17 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael BWest Sussex, UK10 contributionsI have at last sorted a few of the many, many pictures that I took when Wendy and I were in Finland with Yari Peltomaki and Finnature for their Autumn Colours photographic tour.
Firstly, i cannot praise enough the arrangements for this trip. The Finnature Guest House that we stayed in at Utajärvi was nigh on perfect. The food was superb with Finnature’s Chef serving a
superb evening meal each day after our all day stay in Finnature’s well equipped heated hide. It was all that we could have hoped for and more. The homemade soup each night was a pure delight!
Finnature’s heated hide, and supplied thermal “hide slippers” made our wait for wildlife action extremely comfortable. And the opportunity to use their tripod heads and adjustable secure fixings was very important to us, bearing in mind the weight restrictions imposed on photographic air travel.
What about the Golden Eagles?
They showed up on the first day very early with a youngster trying to rule the roost.
But the second day?
Wow!
No show for hours in iffy light. Then the sun broke through and - - - nothing showing!!
Then, when hopes faded [as they can, and usually do ], the Golden Eagles visited and treated us to the most amazing photographic opportunities beautiful, rich, Autumn late afternoon light.
The last day was even more tantalising!
One fly past, but no photographable visit by the Eagles.
Again- when hope had evaporated [ as can occasionally happen in the real wildlife world ] -
the sun broke out again in late afternoon and the Eagles landed.
Wow!
Flight pictures this time, as the Eagles had more confidence, as Wendy and I did!
So -
Finnature - very well arranged and facilitated.
Finnature Guess House Chef - delicious food.
Yari Peltomaki - a world class wildlife and photographic Guide [ and also an Olympus Ambassador which was extremely helpful to me - a recent convert to Micro 4/3rds]Written 18 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
