Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's a stunningly beautiful park in the inner city with creeks and bridges over them. There's a playground, an ice-cream truck and even a greenhouse.

Good market hall but not many stands were open unfortunately. We had a browse, bought some reindeer salami and had some salmon soup which was very good (12.50 Euro)

We ended up in Oulu with no accomodation, through no fault of our own,
We headed to the Tourist Centre where we were looked after very well by Rosa. She was very very kind and extremely helpful in trying to find us a bed.

Hupisaaret Park is a beautiful outdoor recreation area. You find flowers, interesting trees, fountains, trails with beautiful pedestrian bridges, sitting places, cafeterias, campfire sites, statues, a playground, a summer theater, a fish ladder etc. there. Remember to visit Kiikkusaari Greenhouse, too. The area is free (no any admission fee) and it is open 24/7.

Nallikari Beach (Nallikarin ranta) is the most popular beach in Oulu. It is shallow and very good for small children, too. Last year there were minor problems with water quality there but this summer the quality of water is very good. The area is beautiful and there are many activities there: beach volleyball courts, a huge climbing frame for children, a campfire site, an outdoor gym, a small observation tower, ice-cream kiosks, a cafeteria-restaurant etc. The zipline was closed when we visited the beach.

Nallikari Beach is a wonderful excursion destination from the city center of Oulu. We walked from the center to the beach and back. The walking distance from the market square is 3.5 kilometers in one way but the route is very beautiful. You see the historical Pikisaari Island on the way (tip: walk along Pikinen Poloku environmental art route). The walking route is much shorter than the roadway for cars because there are pedestrian bridges between islands. Also biking is allowed but cars aren't allowed.

It is also possible to hop on a land train (a trackless mini train on streets) and travel from the city center (Snellman Park, opposite to the town hall) to Nallikari and/or from Nallikari back to the city center by land train. Departures are usually once an hour until August 8th, 2023 (from the city center at 11.30 A.M., 12.30 P.M., 1.30 P.M., 2.30 P.M., 4.30 P.M., 5.30 P.M. and from Nallikari at 11 A.M., 12 noon, 1 P.M., 2 P.M., 4 P.M., 5 P.M.). Remember to check timetables.

This is definitely not ”a typical orthodox” cathedral like someone said before. It is and has always been a lutheral cathedral. The lutheran cathedrals are far less decorative than the orthodox cathedrals anyway. :)

Nice but quite small collection of cars and motorcycles. On the other hand also price was under ten euros. There was huge truck which was unique and used in hydroelectric power-plant construction sites. There is nice cafe in same building which offers very good lunch also.

We saw only inside part due to winter. It's a very nice botanical garden - plenty of unusual and beautiful plants, many of them with flowers. Was a delight to watch it in winter because I was missing green plants and flowers.
Everything is nicely arranged and well cared for.

The museum is located in the Ainola park. We did not have high expectations when we entered the museum and were pleasantly surprised by the exhibition. The museum is quite big and the different sections of the museum give you a very good picture of life in Oulu region. Highly recommended. This is at 74 Torikatu not too far from the Tourist information office. It was built in 1957 and is south of the city centre

It was good with lots of information- quite a lot of it is also in English. The museum is quite dated as evident from the display of old coins that refer to Finland about to join the Euro. The layout is a little odd with no clear order. It is worth a visit and is reasonably priced for what you get. The lady on the reception was extremely nice and helpful.
