Even with lack of snow, it was magical for the kids. Especially at night when it’s all lit up.

Would highly recommend the meet and greet with the husky’s, and the husky ride. We pre booked but you can pay on the day.

Snowman world was closed till the 6th December, there is a temp snow slide but not worth the €10 they charge per child thigh. Snowman world looks great .

Snow mobiles for the children was €25 for 10 minutes. We had a long wait time of over an hour in -12 (even when we prebooked) majority of the kids came off crying for how cold there hands got. Would recommend going first thing to avoid ques and there is a height restriction of 145cm or under (even though it goes upto age 12) younger kids will enjoy it more as they don’t go too fast.

There was lack of snow, but the kids made their own fun in what snow there was and ice patches for sliding down on the paths.

It is very commercialised but as it’s free entry to go in, it’s worth the visit.

Very interesting museum about the flora and fauna of Lapland and the history of Lapland and Rovanemi.
There is also an exhibition about the Arctic.
Duration of visit approx. 2 hours.

Such a lovely place to visit overall
(ideal for when the weather is so cold, as it’s indoors) the show was so entertaining for the kids and adults.

Elf school - is not the best, kids switched off after 10 minutes as it was story telling based not very interactive

Father Christmas - I was disappointed giving that we are in Lapland, no different to seeing one at home, again not very interactive or magical.

    Overall it’s worth visiting

After a long research we booked a Premium Combo safari for all day with Arctic Lifestyle. The communication with the company when making a booking was excellent.
Then once we arrived to Rovaniemi it turned out that is way below 20degrees and we were with 2 small kids age 8 and 4 and we got worried a bit. Totally unnecessary.
We hit a jackpot with our tour guide Lenny, who we had just for ourselves and he spent with us a whole day and made it really very enjoyable for our kids and us.
The tour started by bringing us to the company's base where we got changed into the winter clothes and our boys just got helmets, as they were already properly dressed for this cold.
None of us drove snowmobiles ever before and Lenny made sure to explain to us not only how to drive but how to make it enjoyable for us. We both had our own snowmobiles to drive which was what we booked and we absolutely loved it. Lenny's tips as to how the machines behave on the snow helped us a lot and after a short while we really had a blast and enjoyed the long ride through the frozen river in a lovely wintery landscape. The kids drove together with our tour guide and they loved it!
Then we arrived to the place nearby the reindeer farm where we had a short ride on a sleigh pulled by one reindeer. They had a lovely fireplace to warm up and after the ride we could go and feed the reindeers. We also got an interesting lecture inside the little house about the reindeers farm and had cookies and hot tea/juice.
We couldn’t wait to jump back onto the snowmobiles again and we took our time for lovely photos and turns back to the base. In spite of the coldness we really had a great time. Lenny made sure our kids are safe and happy.
After that we drove to the Santa’s Village for a lovely and scrumptious lunch buffet which was included in the price of the safari.
And then last but not least the icing on the cake for me personally – the husky ride. We drove outside Rovaniemi to Huskypoint a lovely kennel where you could see that there are absolutely passionate about what they do. I drove one sleigh – their guide explains how to do it – one thing to remember not to let go of the sleigh! The huskies love running and are very happy to do it and they hate when you put on breaks.
All in all this is a great safari well worth its steep price and all great activities which we wanted to do in Lapland combined in one day.
Lenny our tour guide was truly exceptional. He was extremely kind and patient with our kids and we felt they were well taken care of. He really made our day. We always felt safe. Lennert also has a great personality and myself and my husband loved his companion.
We truly recommend the Premium Combo with Arctic Safari and if you are lucky enough to get a tour guide like Lenny you will have an unforgettable day filled with fantastic memories!

Kids learnt to ski/snowboard this winter. There was no snow but our 90 min easy start class forged ahead -- two of my kids (9 and 16) learnt snowboarding with one instructor and my eldest (21) and myself (nearly 50) learnt to ski. We booked ahead by email and communication was clear and friendly. I had some serious doubts about learning to ski at my age, but went ahead anyway.

It's a little hard to find if you are walking (take the street after the one with the big x-country ski sign) because the signage isn't very clear, and you can actually cut across the carpark which google maps won't tell you. If unsure, just take a taxi the first day.

Gearing up was pretty straightforward. You fill up all your measurements online and your stuff is all waiting for you once you get there. Staff are all young teenagers I think. But very friendly and helpful and speak good English.

Lockers are 5 euros to rent for the day and the gear rental includes only helmet, skis/snowboard and boots, so take your own gloves and goggles (we didn't need them cos not snowing and seriously sun sets in like 3 hours).

The older kids got good enough for the big slope by the end of three days. I reckon the little one could have gone too, but it was dark by then, and I didn't really want him up there on his own. Me, I did one day of class and conquered the bunny slope in Rendi Park, but gave up after a fall off the rope lift did my knee in. They very kindly refunded me the remaining two days of gear rental : )

Instructors were very patient and kind. My younger boys really liked their instructor Grant. They learnt a lot in just three days. It's quiet in the morning and we pretty much had the slopes to ourselves. I think it made a difference to how quickly they could learn. No waiting for the lift, no one to crash into, etc. By lunch time, it gets decidedly more busy with quite a lot of tourists who don't take classes and can't ski. Then after school, I think the Finnish kids show up. They're really cool to watch.

Since I wasn't skiiing anymore, I spent two days in the lovely lovely cafe (the photos online don't do it any justice!) It is cosier than it looks and not too crowded as most people are out on the slopes. The food is also unexpectedly good. We ate there three days straight, no complaints. Rest of the time, I was out taking photos and videos of the kids which you can do on the Rendi Park slope and at the bottom of the bigger one.

Very happy this was our first snow sports experience.

We did the Christmas dinner and really enjoyed our experience. We have 2 girls ages 5 and 7 and they were over the moon with so many eleves to play with and a visit with Santa. The two things I would note:
1- this was supposed to be a 3 hour experience but they were 30 min late to pick us up. Which made for very stressed kids who thought they had forgotten us and it made the experience feel rushed, as instead of still having the 3 hours our time was cut short. They had an amazing bonfire which we didn’t get to enjoy, the cutting and trimming of the tree was rushed and dinner was rushed as well.
2- after having paid such an high price per person for this dinner, they didn’t include drinks and we had to pay an extra 5 euros for soft drinks. I mean honestly, just charge 5 more euros and include the drink and be done with it. Instead they brought a cart and went around the tables charging people, which felt very distasteful.

I would still recommend the experience as our kids loved it.

Great play park for kids, very spacious and not too busy . Don’t go sledding here as a road below which is dangerous but plenty for kids to play on including zip line and pitch . Some kids play elements I haven’t seen in other parks before

It’s will be a good experience specially if you are with kids, for adult people too, they have a good assortment of fun for all ages, prices in cafes are pretty good, I was expected more high prices, for souvenirs also comfortable prices and big choice (you can find everything there), I was also in ice restaurant and it’s was super tasty, just from a small problems it’s a bus station if you live in Ivalo or something far away from this village, it’s was hard to find a bus station, would be better if they will make some transfer to the village with extra payment, but just it’s will be more comfortable and idk maybe I’m blind, but I didn’t saw anywhere before what was written “your own phone and camera are not allowed for meeting with Santa”, price on the photo is extremely high, 2 min with Santa, 1 shot from first trying and get out, not a very magical moment to be honest)

Amazing and very impressive view over Finland and rovaniemi if you have a sunny day. Hidden spot but worth to walk there even if it’s cold!

Catching the overnight train from Helsinki to Lapland was a great way to start our northern experience. The kids (11 and 8) loved it. We booked two rooms (one adult and one child in each) with bathrooms. It was fun watching out the windows and experiencing the dark skies before reaching our destination. The shower was not hot, but this was a tiny negative in an otherwise great experience. Departure and arrival was on time. Plenty of taxis were waiting to take us to Santas Village.

This is for the children people, seriously, there is a little wait, peak December, a little wait. Yes it's no different to anywhere else, it's commercial. Santa was great, he was genuinely interested in us. The house is fantastic. Temper expectations and remember it's for the kids.

We visited the city centre from the Santa Claus Village to pick up some winter clothes that we were renting, so we decided to spend the morning in Rovaniemi. There really isn't much to do here but visit the Arkitrum museum and take in the views of the Lumberjack Candle Bridge. Is it good? Sure. It's an impressive bridge, and it's worth a photo. I'm not sure what else to tell you about it.

Firstly I have to say the centre is quite small. That surprised us at first. But when you enter the exhibition you realise the interactivness is the key to a great visit. Every little detail is well thought through. You get to experience the Northern forests with all senses! Our family had a great few hours touching, smelling, feeling and learning - also singing karaoke and getting lost in the woods. 😄 The staff here is super: do ask them for guidance. Also the Pilke shop is a good spot to scout for souvenirs.

We were part of a tour group and we arrived at the farm by boat on a scenic river journey from Rovaniemi. There was a quite lengthy boarded walkway from the river to the farm, which required a little care as it was quite narrow and could be slippery in places. On arrival at the farm we received a very welcoming and entertaining introduction (including myths and legends), to the farm operations. We then met the reindeer who were in a large paddock area, and were obviously used to human interaction. After a very interesting visit, we made our way back to the river for our return boat trip.
