What travellers are saying
- Felix G9 contributionsWe had been here with two children (8 and 12 years old). The article circle exhibition was not as interesting as expected. The exhibition about live in and around Rovaniemi was much more interesting. It is a bit difficult to understand where to find what as parts of the exhibition are split across two floors. It might be worth to buy the multi ticket that allows entrance to the science center that is very interesting for kids.Written 12 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- becsmileDelph, UK80 contributionsThe actual Father Christmas was really believable, looked the part and the accent definitely added to the magic.
But the experience as a whole was disappointing- the waiting area was quite small and could have been a lot more magical - just a few little extras would have gone a long way - we arrived at 10.30 and still had a good 40min wait. There wasn’t even a door blocking the queue from the Santa clause room just a rope so the kids could see what was happening. I think if I was to do it again I’d try booking one of the Santa tours into the forest.Written 29 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Brooks RLeawood, KS14 contributionsThe cave was fun but very much designed for families with young children. The ice cave and vodka shots were great.Written 15 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- RiddykinOulu, Finland80 contributionsFirstly I have to say the centre is quite small. That surprised us at first. But when you enter the exhibition you realise the interactivness is the key to a great visit. Every little detail is well thought through. You get to experience the Northern forests with all senses! Our family had a great few hours touching, smelling, feeling and learning - also singing karaoke and getting lost in the woods. 😄 The staff here is super: do ask them for guidance. Also the Pilke shop is a good spot to scout for souvenirs.Written 12 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- B TLondon, UK826 contributionsThe church is worth a visit, it is open most of the time for you to go inside and there are beautiful paintings behind the altar and on the roof.Written 30 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- B TLondon, UK826 contributionsI thought this was the best part of Santa's village. The prices of some of the souvenirs seemed cheaper than other places at Santa's village and it was not as crowded with merchandise. There is a cafe to eat and you could meet Santa here. The queues were shorter than at Santa's office.Written 30 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Giles6 contributionsA great surprise to find such interesting contemporary art in a small regional city. It isn't so big you run out of steam, and I was able to spend time really appreciating my favourite works without being rushed.Written 29 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsThis library was completed in 1965.
It is one of the many libraries designed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto who also designed the Lappia House (Rovaniemi Theater) next to the library.
All of his libraries are known for the spacious library hall, book recesses, and skylights.
In addition to books, you can always find a small art exhibition at this library.Written 13 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Expedition6910242 contributionsFree within Santa's village and a very nice collection of snowmobiles throughout the previous decadesWritten 30 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,765 contributionsThis shopping center is located next to Lordi's Square and the main pedestrian street that is beautifully lit during Christmas time.
You can find here branded retailers, souvenirs, fast food & a movie theater.Written 13 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Leigh1 contributionThis was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and we travel A LOT! This was such a limit pusher in so many ways and pleasant, warm, friendly, and just all around absolutely terrific. Doing the sauna and ice plunge was so fun. Then, we relaxed and enjoyed time around the fire inside cooking sausages and drinking warm blueberry juice. Wow, cannot recommend enough. You won’t regret this! Great family-run business, great job.Written 17 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Henrik Ö.2 contributionsThe stylish and cleanest climbing place I've seen in Finland or abroad. There was routes for everyone, even for me 😁 more than a year break from the last time and had a great experience! Wonderful and professional staff. - Giles6 contributionsWe loved learning how to make traditional Sami bracelets with Julia. She helped us through every step and was very generous with her story and family history. We had great conversations about the importance of sharing our cultures with others, and of the great resilience of Sami people across the Arctic.
This is highly recommended and so much more valuable than just buying the souvenir!
The gift store also has the most beautiful puukko knives we saw anywhere in Finland and carved reindeer antler. Beautifully individual and made in the workshop through the window.Written 24 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Peter MMelbourne, Australia954 contributionsThis is known as Marttinin Wanha Tehdas in Finish. It was built in 1928 and badly burned in the 1940s. It was refurbished in 1998 and the knife factory operates from this historical building. It has high quality knives which are sold in shops. I just saw it from outside and did not actually go in the buildingWritten 21 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Pratheesh JaisonDubai, United Arab Emirates282 contributionsSince 1985, Santa Claus has received 15 million letters from 198 countries, which makes Santa Claus Main Post Office a must on any visit to Santa Claus Village. The merry postal elves are happy to serve customers all year round in their headquarters, which is a real post office operated by Posti, Finland’s national postal service. Every letter sent from here is addressed from Santa and gets a special Arctic Circle postmark not available anywhere else. The highlight is that if you send a postcard on 18th January, it will be received only on 18th December as a special gift for Christmas. We had a small deal of shopping there – just a handful of cards and souvenirs. And we send many cards to our friends around the world. The cards are available from 2EUR.
The Tourism Information Desk is located right above the Post Office. We went there and sealed our passports for crossing the Arctic Circle. It is not at all mandatory, but that would be a seal that would mark our journey officially forever.Written 26 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
