Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lumberjack Statue (in Finnish Jätkä-patsas or Jätkänpatsas) may be the most famous sculpture in Rovaniemi. It describes the work of log drivers. Log driving was very important in Finland earlier because Finland is the most forested country in Europe. Log driving began in Finland in the 17th century and the total length of Finnish timber floating routes was 40,000 kilometers. This statue was completed in 1955. It is located in a riverside park (address Kariniemenpolku) at the west end of Lumberjack's Candle Bridge. If you want to see only one statue in Rovaniemi, choose Lumberjack Statue. This is my favorite statue in Rovaniemi.

Jäger Movement Memorial (Jääkäriliikkeen muistomerkki in Finnish, also known as Katkenneet kahleet) is situated in Jääkäripuisto Park, Rovaniemi. The Jäger Movement (or Jaeger Movement) consisted of Finnish volunteers who trained in Germany as Jägers during the First World War. Jägers were a kind of elite infantry and their purpose was to weaken Russia. This stony monument was completed in 1981. I think that it is a very important memorial to Finnish war history. Besides, in my opinion the park around the memorial is quite beautiful, too.

Monument to the Reconstruction of Lapland in 1944-1955 (in Finnish Lapin jälleenrakentamisen muistomerkki 1944-1955) was erected in 1977 next to the railway station of Rovaniemi. The monument is made of steel and it looks like a tulip that rises from the ashes after Lapland had been burned in the war. In my opinion the monument itself is very beautiful and emotional. However, those information boards and concrete walls next to the monument are in poor condition. I hope that they will be renovated soon.

This reindeer statue is named Walkout (Ulosmarssi in Finnish). You see a reindeer which is walking out of the large steel plate (200 x 250 centimeters). The statue is located in the park of Rovaniemi City Library (address Hallituskatu 9). In my opinion this statue and the surrounding administrative buildings by Alvar Aalto combine a very interesting whole.

Mother Lapland (Ă„iti-Lappi in Finnish) is a seven meter tall statue made of bronze. So it is very impressive. It is situated at the east end of Hallituskatu Street (address Valtakatu 2, Rovaniemi). The statue was completed in 1989. It can be interpreted in many ways. That's why it is very interesting, I think.

Raivaten ja rakentaen is a monument to military engineering during the Lapland War (during the Second World War) and the reconstruction of Lapland after the war. This monument is located in Uitonpuisto Park at the west end of Ounaskoski Bridge (The Old Bridge). The monument was completed in 1990. So it is a quite new war memorial. However, I think that it is both very important and very beautiful.

Phoenix Bird (Fenix-lintu in Finnish) is a sculpture which is over 5 meters tall (including the pedestal) and 2 meters wide. The sculpture (excluding the pedestal) is made of spectrolite which is a Finnish gemstone. It is mined only in Finland and it has a very rich range of colors among the black base color. The sculpture describes the reconstruction of Lapland after the Second World War. Burned Lapland took off from the ashes like the Phoenix Bird. The symbolism of the sculpture speaks to me very much.
