Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a 6 day trip, its 5 minutes from the airport, cabs waiting outside. We had a superior cottage which was great with a sauna & a shared porch with my friend & her son. We were given a sleigh to pull put cases to our cottage, it was -10 and lovely thick crunchy snow. We met the real santa free but €50 for a pic. Purchased postcards from Santa's post office. Walked under the artic circle. Took a reindeer sleigh ride. Lovely buffet breakfast little hectic & noisy. Overall its a must to stay here

This is for the children people, seriously, there is a little wait, peak December, a little wait. Yes it's no different to anywhere else, it's commercial. Santa was great, he was genuinely interested in us. The house is fantastic. Temper expectations and remember it's for the kids.

The centre of the Rovaniemi shopping area, with a couple of small shopping arcades nearby. The best one being a couple of minutes walk up the slight hill towards the Scandic Hotel and the across the road

Lordi Square had a free Santa office you could visit and meet him without any queuing, even in December.

There was also a nice ice rink where you could have a go on real ice for about 10 euros per person.

We had literally just visited Santa in the Santa Claus Village and that experience was not so great. It felt very rushed and hurried. This was the absolut oposite. Santa took time to talk to us, answered our daughters questions and draw a picture of himself and gave it to our daughter. We took so many pictures and after buing one we were also allowed to use our own camera to take video and snap a selfie. It was so worth the money. I was not expecting to buy the foto but just had to after such a friendly encounter.

90 year old knives house…One of the few buildings spared during the second world war. Take a look at the mini museum of old knives and pick souvenirs to bring back.

Good place to see Aurora Borealis (northern lights), with 360º view of the sky. This is a huge frozen lake, 8-10 minutes from Santa Claus Village. Easily accessible, it has a "kota" (traditional public fireplace).

This place is one of the best around Rovaniemi to see the Aurora during the winter.
It is a frozen lake, almost no lights in the surrounding and you have a 360º view of the sky, excellent to see Aurora storms.
It is easily accessible by car (about 15min. from Rovaniemi center and 7 minutes from Santa Claus village.).
There is a kind of a hut with a fire pit to protect yourself from the cold and roast marshmallows, you can get free wood from another hut next door.
