- lesley2805Essex325 contributionsOur Canterbury travel guide arranged for us to have a short shopping stop here before our flight home from Rovenimi airport. Because we had seen the REAL Santa in his home, we were advised to give the large red building on the right a very wide berth as they advertised a chance to meet a certain person!!! . But that wasn't a problem as there was lots of tourist shops in the Arctic village, they all sold pretty much the same things. But because the place we had stayed had been so remote we hadn't managed to buy any Christmas mementos . At the village there was a good choice of Xmas decor, and obviously lots of soft toys. But we also had the chance to post Xmas cards back to the UK with the Arctic circle postmark direct from the North Pole post office. I had taken cards with us ready just for this..
We only had an hour there, I would have liked a little longer, but we cut it fine for our flight home. The airport is only minutes away. It was lovely to finish off the perfect holiday here, and nothing was ridiculously priced, even for a captive audienceWritten 16 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AmKreuz86Helsinki, Finland588 contributionsOf course we've seen many of these products in shops all over Finland. However, to actually get them from the original factory shop has a novelty attached to it and I left happy. Also, it was a lot cheaper there than in the supermarkets where their products are offered. That really surprised me.
We left with chocolate for all. I'm saving my chocolate orange for New Years Day as a nice treat to start the year.Written 29 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland24,218 contributionsThis shopping center is located next to Lordi's Square and the main pedestrian street that is beautifully lit during Christmas time.
You can find here branded retailers, souvenirs, fast food & a movie theater.Written 13 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MC0777Oulu, Finland7,102 contributionsThe gallery, hosted by the Artists' Association of Lapland , offers temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.

The staff, working in the gallery, was extreamly friendly and helpful.Written 28 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mikael FHelsinki, Finland24,218 contributionsThis neo-Gothic Market Hall was opened in 1901 in the Oulu Market Square.
The interior is beautiful with wooden shop stalls along the two aisles.
At the moment, there are construction works going next to the Market Hall. The new Oulu Market Square Hotel will be built.Written 10 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - RCS3rdWellesley, MA1,107 contributionsMarkets are always fun to visit to check out local made wares as well as local food, this market offered a nice mix of both combined with sit down eateries. The seafood offerings were plentiful. The Hakaniemi market hall was currently under renovation but the market is temporary in a building next door. There were a few vendors set up outside as well. We can imagine that there are more vendors during warmer months.
It was a fun place to grab a bite to eat. We had a delicious shrimp sandwich (it was a large sandwich) and a smoked salmon on rye bread, accompanied with wine. Only one red and one white was available, served by the glass.Written 2 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AdventureHelsinki, Finland82 contributionsIf you go to the Kauppatori (Outside Market) at this time of year you will find that it is The annual Herring Market. Always held during the first full week in October, the market has been happening just about every year since 1743. I decided to go and have a look this year as it is usually a wonderful atmosphere. Of course this year was slightly different because of the pandemic. Usually lots of little fishing boats are set out along the harbour, selling all flavours of spiced herrings. This year I counted only about 10 fishing boats all clustered at one end of the harbour and this year they did not allow customers to taste the herring before buying. But non the less the atmosphere was although less crowded, very much the same as in past years. The herrings are sold in little plastic tubs weighing about 250 grms, of which the fish content is about 150 grms. The price is usually this year about 8 euros (A bit expensive I think), although they do reductions if you buy 3 tubs, the cheapest I found was 5 euros per tub. They sell all kinds of flavours from garlic herrings to the usual "Glassmaker's herring" to Mustard, onion or dill herrings, I have seen Brandy herring and even coffee spiced herring in the past but this year the flavours seemed quite conservative. There is always a competition to find the best herring between the different sellers or the newest taste. Also you can find sweet Archipelago breads and other spiced preserves. The normal market is always worth a visit at any time of year, well except for winter when there can only be 2 or 3 tents set up in the coldest of weather. Now they were selling all kinds of Autumn products from Sea Blackthorn juice to apples and mushrooms. All in all a nice visit.Written 9 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Heli PHelsinki, Finland5,373 contributionsCelebrating its 160th anniversary our biggest and most famous department store is now on a slightly ascending curve in profitability as the pandemy eases. The effort to target brand conscious middle class is paying off and customers are returning to the store which has several new cafeterias offering refreshments while shopping. Outsourcing the traditional food market has helped to balance the economy too.Written 19 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Saqlain AEspoo, Finland11 contributionsIt's a really cool place with lots of shops of all sort, ranging from clothes to mobile stuff and of course several good cafeterias as well. The wifi of the centre was not working during my time and that was annoying but luckily there are several open wifi's available so it shouldn't be a problem.Written 21 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tomi WickmanHelsinki, Finland2,159 contributionsYou can find anything you need in here. But it is odd how they have created an association of an inexpensive shopping mall. It is not cheap prices hereWritten 10 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Heikki600Vantaa, Finland146 contributionsGreat mall in Vantaa close to airport and you can get everything you need here. If you are in a hurry you do not need to travel to Helsinki or Espoo malls.
There is also quite good selection of various restaurants and if that is not enough then there are half a dozen more next door in Flamingo entertainment complex.Written 6 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
