Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MCA_TravelingBucharest, Romania684 contributionsAn amazing beach, one of the best on the entire Thasos Island!
PROS:
- Lots of sun beds with umbrellas, both reed and the classical plastic ones, provided by different vendors that also offer bar services – in this regard I recommend the beach section close to Cielo Beach Bar.
- The view from the water is amazing, with both mountain slopes closing on the beach – is fantastic.
- There are also watersport services available – jet skis, different forms of towing devices, the classical SUP boards, etc.
- In some portions of the beach there are showers available and dressing cabins – for example in the Cielo Beach section
- Parking can get problematic if you miss the early morning check-in times.
CONS:
- None, actually
THINGS TO CONSIDER
- There are only 3 life guard towers on the entire beach stretch, so make sure you are in the visual range if you are not an experienced swimmer.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. + good seawater quality
+ nice sunbeds on the upper wooden deck
+ excellent views with some distant islands; better than looking into an empty sea
- why would you charge 50c for a shower?
- /+ kitchen can be much improved but still good for small staff. Self-service.
- camouflage tent is inadequate to protect from the sun in the afternoon
- no sunset as it faces eastWritten 10 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They ask you for 30 euro to cover sunbeds which you can use as credit in the taverna. Food poor and prices high. Only interested in getting money from you.
Toilets very poor as well.
Avoid this taverna. Continue on the path to other tavernas.

George, the owner, has created a wonderful space displaying unique artwork. Our home back in the UK has many works of art purchased from this gallery and we have just taken delivery of a stunning painting, expertly shipped to us by George. This gallery is a must for art lovers.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KayLondon, UK24 contributionsWe came here due to all the pictures we saw. We had a car hire for the day, not sure how you would get here without a car.
Warning you drive down and park but the last bit is off road so unless you have a 4x4 you have to walk the last bit. In the scorching heat this is harder than it looks. At the bottom of the dirt road there is a small cafe with overpriced food/drink nit that we cared a cool drink was needed! You then climb down the rocks to get to Giola. Not for the faint hearted and then lots of people. There is no shade in the area we didn’t swim as water looked quite dirty when we went but others were. The climb back is what made me never want to do this again lol - in the heat it was exhausting.
Small boats came up to this site think thats the best way to access.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Gabriel A4 contributionsIt is a small beach with extremely comfortable sunbeds. Ideal for calming down and disconnecting thanks to the silence.
The prices are similar to the other beaches in the region, but with the mention that the food here is extraordinary and the staff is very kind and helpful.

- Terry FLiverpool, UK376 contributionsWent the beach a few times 6 euros for the beds and a bar with food not bad prices but you add in the cost of sunbeds and it adds upWritten 26 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - martinmillard56Walsall, UK3 contributionsVery good museum with very friendly staff. Group of school children in front of us. They went left as we walked in and lady at entrance guided us right to a small theatre, sat there on our own - video - History of Thassos in English through the centuries, took about 20 min. Then walked around the building with many architects. Yes staff are keeping an eye on everyone as lots of architects could be stolen. The place is like a TARDIS ( Dr Who) From the entrance looks small but has about 3 floors. Well worth the visit, a couple of minutes walk from the main drag in town centre. If you are in the EUR it's €4 or £5 if in the UK. Same if you are a pensioner.Written 7 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - charoula g5 contributionsThe beach is wonderful the added value is that in both beach bars the waiters are so polite! The sea is blue and clean!Written 11 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- skippy402Auckland, New Zealand47 contributionsThis monastery is well worth a visit for Pilgrims and Tourists alike. It is a beautiful well kept conclave of old buildings on a hilltop overlooking the sea, and visitors are able to view a relic of the Holy Cross. There is a chapel and patio with breathtaking sea views and a shop to buy suitable memorabilia including booklets about the origins and history of the Monastery. There is no charge for entry and parking is on the road outside. However, remember to wear modest clothing and be prepared to accept a skirt or shawl to cover up from the lady who greets you at the entrance.Written 29 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
