Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We hired a car and drove there from Skala after visiting mellisani cave.
Stunning views as you drive down to it. Looks deceptively like white sand but it’s actually pebbles.
Cars park all along the road that winds down to the beach. I would recommend that you drive right to the bottom then start from there to find a space as there are people coming and going all the time.
I would highly recommend buying a parasol from the shop in the little town at the top before you drive down (around €13) as there is no shade unless you hire a sunbed.
We just wanted to snorkel and had beach shoes with us so when we reached the rocks it was easy to clamber around. Spent a wonderful couple of hours snorkelling around the rocks in the beautifully scenic bay.

Astonishing beach. But make sure that you bring your own food and drinks because the prices at the bars are ridiculous. This beach has also a watersport place where you can rent a jetski or other activities which is great when you are tired of lying on the beach.

Lovely long beach. Most is quite sandy but as you approach and enter the water you will need beach shoes as it does become pebbly in places. Depth also increases quite quickly after jus a few yards into the sea so just be careful. Not too cold, warm pockets in places and calm on most days we went apart from the wash from passing boats. Nice breeze to help cool you down from the sun and plenty of room in between sunbeds to lay towels which we prefer.

Wonderful beach day - beautiful sea and stunning cliffs. Friendly bar where you can order takeaway Greek salad iced coffee and beers. Comfy loungers for 8 euros, no need for mattress. Worth an explore to far right as you look at the sea. Quiet little cove. Worth taking the ferry if coming from Agostoli , 9 euros.

This beach was absolutely stunning. Trees all the way down the steep inclines, sandy, clean, crystal clear water, facilities, lifeguard. My favourite spot was in the Center/right where the rocks are. My favourite!

Lovely spot, we went on a saturday when I imagine a lot of locals frequented their beach of choice. Very clear waters and good for snorkling. We saw more fish than on any of the other beaches on the island, Greek radio was played through a public loudspeaker.

The beach was crowded, however if you are willing to walk, move to your right and you will find a quiet place. You will have to carry an umbrella.

Ignore the reviews by the people who are either too spoiled, too unfit or just clueless. This is by far the best beach in the whole island. Forget the hype of myrtos, this is a wonderful place to relax, swim and explore. Not organized, bit this is a plus in my books.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen - gorgeous. Food at the taverna is good (if a little expensive) but a smile wouldn’t hurt!

Loved Mounda beach. Th turtles had only just started coming ashore to lay there eggs.
These areas are marked with several sticks in the sand and a note of some sort hanging from the middle.
The beach, just west of Skala ,is a bit hit or miss where ever you decide to go, further west is better.
Coming from Skala it's a tight left hand turn, basically when you see the sign turn.
There is shower amenities if you look for them and I suggest you do this first and set up camp close by.
There's not many beaches in Kefalonia i wouldn't go to, and Myrtos is one-way too rocky.

Beautiful little beach, only problem we had was there were so many jelly fish that we were advised not to go in the water. Hopefully this was only a temporary thing.

Just had a walk with my wife and our dog along Avithos beach, there are some landslide issues. Firstly on the car park a lot of slippage onto the car park, there are still parking spaces, but not as much room as there was.
Turned right when on the beach, next problem, at the end of the beach, you are greeted by a large bush, a lot of mud and dirt slippage as well as rocks.
These obstacles can be overcome with caution and without getting your feet wet.
This mud and debris continues round the first corner of the cliff, until the next part of the beach.
Thereafter the beach is pretty clear, after the huge boulder just at the waters edge the next part of the beach is clear, although there is a land slippage along most of the length of this section.
Beyond the far end, well sorry to say but at the moment that is completely blocked by landslides.

Wednesday 29th June an we walked from our accommodation, Saulas Studios to this unspoilt beach.

It took us about forty-five minutes to walk the 1.8 kilometres (1.1 miles) to the beach. We walked along the road (Souvlaki House Road) until we reached the signpost, pointing the way here.

The way down starts off as a lane, leading to a concrete slope and then to a narrow pathway through the undergrowth. Then finally some steps on to the golden sand of the beach.

As we made our way down the hill, from time to time, we got glimpses of practically deserted beach. Along the way there were a couple of rustic benches to rest up and a water fountain.

There are no facilities here, no sunbeds or umbrellas, showers, shops or tavernas. So if planning to spend some time here, then every thing needs to be taken, most importantly water.

The beach is a mixture of golden and white sand peppered with some shell and pebbles and washed by the gentle shallow waters of the Ionian Sea. It is almost crescent shaped, flanked by rocks on either side with a mountainous terrain behind it.

An ideal place to come, spread out the towels and beach mats and enjoy the solitude, tranquility and avoid the crowds on this beautiful beach

There is an alternative way of getting here, it is possible to walk here along the beaches starting at Lourdata Beach. There is a bit were some rocks had to be clambered over, definitely the easier way. We did walk back along the beach to Lourdata.

This review is for people who decide to go down the beach on foot. Otherwise, just take the taxi-boat from Agia Kyriaki (15 euros return per person). Please look at the attached picture to help you start your way down.
Google maps bring you to the point drawn on the map where you can leave the car. In fact you can leave it a bit earlier on the same road as you would need to head backwards anyway! Don't take the road heading north as it takes you further away from the beach and in fact after a while there is no clear path and it's dangerous. At the point where Google brings you, there is some fence with a gate (there was a bulldozer inside the fence at the time). Walk opposite direction to the one you arrived, in parallel with the fence and when the fence is over towards that direction, turn right (still in paraller with the fence) and then right again to the trail designated on google maps. Unfortunately there are no signs for all these. Follow the green or red dots on stones occasionally foud on the trail. Follow the trail towards the sea and after 5-10mins you enter the part of the trail with plantation. There, you should always keep an eye on the ground and follow the green OR red dots from spray on stones. It took me 40 mins to get down and 30 mins to climb up (!), without a stop. The trail has moderate difficulty to cross with some "obstacles" on the way from fallen trees etc. Definitely wear good shoes (no flip flops, no slippery shoes etc). The level of stamina required is moderate I would say. Obviously, being under the sun with high temperatures makes it a bit more difficult, but please take your time and bring water with you.
