Our hotel is in Imerovigli so started the walk there. As many have said wear either trainers or sturdy shoes, take water and be prepared for a reasonable hike in the sun as there are no real shady spots

The path is easy to follow not least because there are always people in front of you doing the same walk. It’s a path in some locations but much of it is on volcanic rock so this is where your good footwear will be essential.

The views are spectacular and you will take so many photos along the way. We enjoyed the approach into Oia (not least because it was downhill!) and then gradually walking through one of the towns main streets. There are plenty of places to eat and drink after your hike.

It took us 2 hours from Imerovigli. We got the bus back via Fira (although due to having to change buses there and a 15 minute walk off the bus to the hotel this took 2 hrs too).

A great way to see some of the best views of the island - many of them inaccessible by road.

Amoudi bay is within walking distance of the main Oia area down 200 large steps. It's worth the walk down to the restaurants - there are a couple of great ones down there, and a self-service snack bar. You can then walk to a small sort of rocky area from where you can get into the sea, although this is hardly the best place in the world to get into he Mediterranean as it is very rocky and there is no beach. It's a long walk back up to Oia though - which you can replace with a donkey ride back. That costs about 10 euro (everything in Santorini is expensive...) but the donkeys look well looked after.

Small but impressive museum that exhibits the finding from Akrotiri. Well worth the visit. Better to buy the full ticket of 15 euro to see all 3 archealogical sites of Santorini.

Santorini was one of the stops on our Princess Cruise. Since we were only going to be there one day, we took one of the tours offered by the cruise line so we could see as much as possible of the island. The tour had a stop at the seaside village of Kamari on the southeast side of Santorini, which is famous for its black sand beaches that were created by volcanic activity. Back in time the shape of the island was totally different, but due to a severe volcano eruption that occurred over three thousand years ago, it not only changed the shape of the island but led to the creation of its beautiful black sand and black pebble beaches. These are not found anywhere else in the Aegean Sea area. We were able to walk down to the beach and visit a couple of the shops along the beach in the short time we were there. The beach is lined with shops, clubs, restaurants, and taverns, and is supposed to have a great nightlife. (PaM)

For 12 Euros you get to see some truly historic remains from a couple of thousand years BC, quite well preserved by the mud and ash of the volcanic explosion that made Santorini bay. The building and facilities are outstanding.

It only takes a small amount of time - probably less than an hour to cover the whole site (it was quiet when we were there). It costs 5 euro to park in the car park - but there is on-road parking nearby when quiet. There's not a huge amount of information available so I reckon a guide would have made it better.

Worth a look, but it is not remotely on the same scale as Pompeii...

This come up on lots of lists as the best thing to do in Santorini. It's a sunset - you know, the thing that happens every day wherever you are in the world? It is great seeing it in Oia, as it drops behind a small island (in May) but even in May there are hordes of people lining large part of Oia. Coach loads of people turn up to see it. It's quite the phenomenon.

Took a mini bus from Kamari for €15 return, well worth it as quite a hike.. absolutely loved our visit but I advise trainers on and a hat as no cover .

I loved this beach. it was really clean and had crystal clear water. Hot sand though so wear suitable footwear. Sun beds at a price but clean and plenty of showers along the coast

One of the best spots for photography, caldera, sunset. The light is amazing, prefer to go offseason in order to avoid a lot of people.

Great place to visit. The church is absolutely beautiful, I wish I could have taken photos on the inside.

There’s also plenty to do, food, shopping, a museum. Absolutely breathtaking

I am writing this review in my father's name who spent several holidays on Santorini. They have visited Eduart multiple times already because they like him personally but also his great work.

    Greetings from Austria!

A must in my opinion. If only for the photo opportunity. The cable car takes you down to the old port and the views are tremendous. Definitely worth the €6 and a far better way to access the old port rather than the barbaric donkey rides up and down the hundreds of stairs. Definitely a better idea getting the cable car back up too rather than climbing the hundreds of stairs in the heat.
