A must do in Athens. A ‘combi’ ticket is good value. You may need to prebook but was quiet in the late afternoon when we visited. Signage could be improved within the site as it’s easy to miss areas.

If interested in the history of Acropolis this fantastic museum is a must! A bit confusing where you can take photos and where not... so better ask.

We went first thing in the morning, as soon as it opened. No crowds. The views are breathtaking-will be back!

Beautiful museum!! there is an amazing collection of finds since the 3rd millennium b.c. with a good explanation of the evolution of the Greek culture. There are also some amazing pieces from Egypt. not to be missed the Kore statues and the bronzes pieces and the collection of clay-made vases.
Overall this is one of the most complete archaeological museums i've ever seen, hence it should be an essential stop for a complete visit of Athens and the comprehension of the local culture.

We expend a couple of days in Plaka! What a wonderful experience! We were visiting the different stores, bars, restaurants, even talking with the people in the street. Everybody is pretty friendly and very tourist oriented. Another thing, it is very safe. It's is a most to visit this area if you want to have a great time. We will come again!

The experience once we were up the mountain was great. We stumbled upon the sunset by accident and it was lovely to see it from Mount Lycabettus. If you haven't climbed another hill that day (like we did Acropolis), go there by foot from the Evagelismos metro station. It's a steep hill and in the end there are a LOT LOT LOT of stairs. It may show like 500 meters or so on maps, and trust me, all of that is HILL. We should've taken a bus that day because by the time we got to the cable car, we already felt like we climbed the mountain. paying 10€ for the round trip of up and down seemed unnecessary. 7.5€ for one way which is a ridiculous price difference. I don't mind the unspectacular ride up. The cable car was in an okay condition.

A highlight of 3 days in Athens!! Stunning, pictures do it no justice. Standing in the stadium you can almost feel the energy from ancient times. 10 euro for entrance seems expensive but it's well worth it. Make sure and use the audio guide (included in ticket). Take your time and soak it all in

The Odeon, also called Herodeion or Herodion, is an impressive Roman theater located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis. The structure was built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife but was destroyed and left in ruins in 267 AD. Renovated in 1950 with a capacity of 5,000, it is now used as a musical venue by many contemporary acts and is the main venue of the Athens Festival. You can see the front exterior from Acropolis Park but, if you're going to the Acropolis, you can get a really good view of the entire theater while climbing / walking up to the Acropolis. (PaM)

A fascinating place to visit. Lots to see and the history comes to life. Also has a very nice chapel. A ‘combi’ ticket can be used here. Very near Monastiraki Square.

You get a great view of Acropolis. I'd say, best in Athens. And it's nature. I'm sure it's awful in full summer, but there were lovely butterflies, tortoises...to enjoy in other seasons. Go for it. Nature in Athens is fun and the monument up the hill is great even if I can't say what is was😊. Any stone you step on might be remnants of a distant civilisation up there.

We were impressed by the structural integrity of this ancient site, so well preserved after all these years. This and the Acropolis were the best sites if you’re on a short timetable, though there’s so much more to see in Athens. The carved relief along the top is well done and preserved. Liked the fragments just laying around waiting to be put together in the future.

We went to this restaurant a second time for two reasons. First of all the atmosphere, service, food and drinks are great. Second, we had a table near to a fire place which made it feel nice and cozy. For all these reasons and more, highly recommended.

I think I enjoyed seeing the historical outfits the most and the jewellery on the ground floor. Such beautiful details and incredible workmanship for so long ago. We aren’t massive fans of the Christianity floor it’s quite jarring the difference in art for that time period but still amazing what’s survived.
Bit off putting feeling like we were being followed around by a member of staff but they’re only doing their job and it was very quiet that day.

Monastiraki really is tourist central and understandably so, as it is located within walking distance of almost all of the main Athen attractions. Actually a fairly attractive district, it does however suffer from ‘tourist’ prices which means you are going to pay high prices for food & drink. If you walk north just a few blocks, prices will decrease 1/3 for almost everything. Walk half a mile and then will decrease another 1/3.

Plenty (if not an over abundance) of tourist shops all selling the same tacky items.

We came back to this great museum since it is so sweet. Full of classic art from the islands with great displays. And the cafe is terrific. Nice architecture.
