Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were on a walking tour that took us into the red light district. An interesting place and the guide said it was much more lively at night.

We loved this! Only visited as Captain Dave had suggested it as a highlight. A hidden catholic church within a townhouse. Beautifully preserved, helpful and friendly staff with an excellent audio tour. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff and beautifully preserved building. Its amazing to actually go into his art studio and the other personal rooms he lived in. Excellent audio tour. Highly recommend. Would have liked more of his paintings (prints would suffice!!) on display but a huge collection of etchings are there to enjoy.

The Square is large and is anchored by the Victoria Hotel on one side and the train station on the other. Across the river is a large Cathedral. There are water tours that leave out of here. A good reference spot to start and end your tours.

The building is gorgeous both inside and out. The history of the previous use as the town hall was very interesting. The main hall, atlas floor and gods and goddess statues are incredible.

Though there isn’t much to see, I somehow love the Begijnhof. This medieval inner courtyard encircled by rows of brown and white houses dates back several centuries and is where the Catholic women (Beguine) lived during an era when the Catholic faith was banned in the 16th century. This place is an existing residential area though no longer occupied by any Beguines, so certain areas are inaccessible to the public. I find this place lovely as it resonates peace and calm amidst the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam city centre, and standing in the courtyard, one may even feel like they’ve travelled back in time to the medieval era.

You are left on your own to be "up close & personal" with several floors of look-alike personalities. Several interactive set ups. The creations are really well done and the eyes are so very real. We enjoyed our time here and got lots of pictures.

This very well preserved synagogue is certainly worth a visit. It is one of the biggest synagogues built by the jews fleeing from Portugal during the sixteenth century. We may admire the huge stone columns supporting the very high ceiling. In the basement the visitor may see a short film with the history of the sephardite jews as well as several cult objects, many of the centuries old. There are audio guides and a well done flyer.

We bought last minute tickets to see Königskinder by Humperdinck on a weekend stay in Amsterdam. The Opera house is lovely. The seats are comfortable the staff helpful and the bar is well staffed. We ordered interval drinks. We would recommend a visit to the Opera if you are very keen on music. The seat prices are comparable to the prices in the UK.

Now, this is how a great museum should be curated. The assembly of documents, art, film, photography, and decorative and religious objects is superb. It's small enough to be manageable but the depth of its collection is outstanding. Combine this with the Portuguese Synagogue and learn about the relatively long history of Jews in Amsterdam in a beautiful and moving space.

An interesting museum sharing the background the the industry and the reality of the situation for some of the women. Took less than an hour and was fairly busy in places but was a good experience,

The church is so very beautiful, historic and interesting. We thought we come in, look around and go somewhere else, but it took us by surprise and didn't let go. Recommended

Very informative about sex throughout the ages.
It really shows humans have always been a bit kinky.
Went to kill some time, but ended up rather intrigued by some of the artifacts
