This was a long day that provided beautiful vistas of the Tuscan countryside. San Gimignano was a gem and decidedly the most beautiful of the towns we visited on our trip. Siena was lovely and the visit to the cathedral was awe-inspiring. The lunch was kind of a bust - it included a little plate of sliced meats, a truly boring small dish of plain pasta with light sauce, and a minuscule sliver of some kind of cake. Pisa was a quick visit - but that was adequate to take bunches of photos of the commanding Campo di Miracoli. There was a lot of walking to and from the various sites - a bit of a stretch for us on such a long day. Our guide, Sandro, was amusing and very animated. After such a long day, the drive home would have been a nice time to maybe catch a nap, but Sandro talked loudly with the driver, non-stop, the whole time. He never once came up for air, and so... no nap for us.
