In 1773, a shipwreck forced an English merchant called John Woodhouse to land at Marsala. Business dismissed the tempest : he sent 52 pipes (i.e. around 20.000 l.) of wine to Liverpool, adding some more alcohol to the barrels, well aware of the English sweet tooth for madera, sherry or port. Vincenzo Florio was the first Italian to try his luck, so well that his family was later invited to Queen Victoria's funeral. All that and much more told by an incredibly energetic 38 yr young Italian lady, both charming and ruthless. She knows... Impressive winery tour, with a final degustation of four different wines & more in small bowls (15€) and a dazzling boutique.

We visited Gambino on the final afternoon of our trip to Sicily and it truly was the highlight of our trip. We were welcomed by our hosts with a glass of rose and enjoyed the beautiful views while they explained the history of the vineyards.
We opted for the “full tasting” which included delicious couscous, various cheese and sausages to compliment the 4 red and white wines we sampled. Our sommelier Nino was a wonderful and knowledgable host who made our afternoon really special. The whole experience is extremely good value, as are the wines which are available to purchase should you wish. Personally
I had ordered 8 bottles of the red Duvanera and white wines using the website, to be shipped to England before I had even left the table. An absolute “must” during your stay in Sicily.

Donnafugata is a young, dynamic brand of winemakers from Sicily. The grapes and the territory create a fantastic story from a family whose purpose is to make great wine for every occasion. If you are traveling around the Marsala area, you must stop here. THANK YOU!

We went by chance to try wine tasting wishing we could do it as we never booked and I met the owner of the most beautiful winery in viagrande called Benanti , at that time they were doing maintenance work that day so they wasn’t open to the public but still he welcomed us to come and try the wines and see the vineyards such a gentleman he was explaining some history about the vineyards and the property . I would 100% recommend for you to visit the winery you won’t be disappointed and enjoy the experience we will definitely be returning back again soon

It is a fairly touristic visit so if you are interested in wine you might find it a bit boring. But the place is beautiful and they make great wines.

Elisa and Emanuel were terrific hosts! Smaller winery with excellent wines. Modern wine making techniques. The Nero D’Avola Patrone is world class. Some very interesting history regarding the wine exports. The vineyards are about 5km away from the winery so no vineyard tour here.

This was our second visit, having had a wonderful time in October 2019.
Due to Covid the number of visitors to the winery are down, but the rooms are still busy, it would be nice to see other people than residents on the restaurant for dinner.
But the staff were excellent, very friendly, and efficient. We enjoyed great breakfasts, and brilliant dinners paired with their lovely wines.
Even went for a dip in the infinity pool that overlooks the vineyards and towards the coast.
    We will be back!

We visited Planeta Winery after visiting Mount Etna. The experience was enjoyable and memorable, we loved every bit of it. We had a simple yet delicious and authentic lunch prepared by a gracious Sicilian chef and hosted by Elena Cassaniti who also showed us around the winery. The pasta we had was one of the best we've ever had, despite its simplicity! And the pistachio cookies they served us along with Italian coffee made the old-fashioned way were both delicious!!

I can't speak highly enough of Elena, she was truly a fantastic host - clearly takes pride and pleasure in what she does. Elena showed us around the winery, explained the history, the different varieties of wine they produce and same for the olive oils. We tried a number of different wines as well as olive oils - always with Elena explaining the differences to us in a relaxed authentically Sicilian atmosphere. Truly lovely.

My wife and I are looking forward to going back during harvesting season and hope to see Elena again then!

We have visited Tenuta Palmieri as a family ,Corrado was really helpful in explaining all the wines and the pairing with the local salumi and cheeses. All wine, cheese, bread and tastings were great! Experience exceeded our expectations. The place and processes are very professional and clean! Big thanks goes to Antonio who explained and gave us a tour of the processing of wine. Will surely visit again! Highly suggested!

This was a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful and the visit was very well-organized. We had both a tour guide and the winemaker, which was great. The tasting was very good with a nice appetizer and the lunch was delicious, with more wine. They also took care of our 2 gluten-free people without a problem. Out group had 8 Americans and 4 locals from Noto and the locals enjoyed it as much as the foreigners did.

Spending the day with Francesco "Frank" Amodeo was a grand highlight of our 8 days in Italy. I truly understand the value and importance of fine EVOO. Beautiful farm and Frank is passionate, honest, and committed to his craft. Not to mention that he has a fantastic, warm personality with a great sense of humor. VERY welcoming. WE expected to receive a "snack" but what we got was an authentic variety of home cooked food straight from his kitchen. And he smothered it in his EVOO. Delicious!!! His olive oil is so outstanding that I purchased 28 bottles for gifts at Christmas. Frank shipped them to me at a very reasonable cost. I promise. Spend the day with Francesco and you will feel like you have experienced real life in Sicily and that you have met your long lost cousin!

Family member did this tour for us, without a reservation and it was very nice. He was passionate about his winery and took so much time with us to give us a great experience, he even gave us a gift wine to take home. So nice
