If you’re going to La Maddalena, it’s good to know that there’s a bus service that will take you into and out of town - and to many amazing beaches - for a mere €1.50 a time, or €1 if you buy packs of tickets from tabacs. They’re neat, scrupulously clean, usually on or close to time, and navigate the twisty backroads like mountain goats. Incredibly good value, especially compared to taxis.
…but that said…
The problem isn’t with the buses or Gruppo Turmo. It seems almost all of the stops and info points outside the centre have been vandalised, with bus stop signs having variously been set fire to, graffitied beyond recognition or even ripped out of the ground at some points: some are entirely missing. Also, where signage does exist, it tends to be on one side of the road only: the opposite stop will just be, well, on the opposite side.
If Gruppo Turmo happen to read this, adding stops to Google, or printable map to their website of all the stops, would be incredibly useful and showcase some of the fantastic locations you can get to.
Our favourite so far: Due Mari (walk straight past the Beach Club and over the rocks for your own little slice of paradise).
