Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We used the excellent local tram route connecting with the Superga Rack Railway to reach the Basilica.

    A scenic journey.

On arrival, the Basilica was shrouded in fog even though it was close to noon.

The frescoes inside this House of God were most impressive. There were not many tourists about, so also easy to pray.

We didn't patronise the small cafe adjacent to the Basilica.

The Palazzo Reale of Torino has an incredible collection, covering antiquities such as ancient Greece and Rome statuary, Renaissance Christian and Classical painting,, and a remarkable ancient weaponry collection in the Armory maintained by Italian King Vittorio Emmanuele II. The residence itself rivals Versailles and is better maintained.
The combined museums represent one of the best collections in all of Europe.

The national cinema museum is housed in this re-used building, which is one of Turin's icons. A lift has been installed to take you right up to above the "dome" at the bottom of the spire. Great view all round and a good box to tick. Very popular.

Unbelievable. When booking a holiday to Turin en route home from Florence, I never thought that I would prefer Turin, but this grand Piazza and the colonnades and surrounding streets, the space and the people made it a wonderful experience. Its grandeur is stunning with centuries old buildings. Why is it that its grandeur is not celebrated more widely. Everywhere you look there are great buildings.

This whole area provides a stunning outlook with large open piazza and colonnades and superb 19thCentury architecture and that from earlier times. Lots of restaurants provide an added dimension to the piazza and there were activities and families engaged in wandering around in the ample space. Great to see. Side streets match the architectural grandeur

Absolutely worth the walk up from the city - the views from the top are incredible. Easy to get to and not TOO taxing a walk.

Showpiece par excellence for Guarini and Juvarra. Additional interest provided by sacristy and the gallery of ex-voto paintings.

The shroud of Turin is stored in this cathedral and u can see the storage encasement. The should is not normally. available for public display due to its delicate state, so don’t expect to see it.

Beautiful square with Savoy palace at the center. It is worth seeing while you are in Turin. Unfortunately Palazzo Madama is currently being restored so you can’t see the facade.

Located exactly on the corner just before hitting the piazza in Via Palazzo di Citta - some wonderful architecture and beautiful paintings - the main altar - gilded - was being restored - it is very much worth viewing and it takes about 15 - 20 mins

What a grand street. I'd no idea Torino had such grand colonnades rivalling those of Bologna. Sad that they are given over to exclusive shops for the wealthy flaunting wealth when there is so much inequality in the City just streets away. The vista at either end is fantastic and look along the streets crossed to see equally stunning architecture and at the end of streets the green hills

Well worth the 15 min walk from the centre of Turin to go and visit. As with all these old buildings not as sharp as they once were, but you still get a wow monment when you go in. Some bits were undergoing restoration while we were there. The gardens are lovely to wander around and again not as sharp as their heyday.

Visited here to get some pictures of Italian architecture. Go glad we visited early as the crowds quickly made getting good pictures quite difficult. Nevertheless it was certainly worth the visit .Really interesting place and would urge others to visit.
