Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nothing quite prepares you for the first glimpse of the colosseum, it is magnificent in every way imaginable.
Staff are helpful, and it is very informative and well laid out for tourists, stairs are steep though!!
    Amazing photographs here, just amazing!

One of the most recognizable and preserved ancient buildings in Rome - a temple to the Roman Gods and Goddesses.

Can get a bit crowded. A beautiful and iconic fountain. Don't forget to toss a coin over your shoulder for good luck!

In the Piazza Navona (a large and popular square) is the Four Rivers Fountain by Bernini. Topped with an Egyptian style obelisk, it has four enormous statues that represent river gods from the four quarters of the world.

Essentially paired up with the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in a ticket, so we have enjoyed walking around these complexes and knowing about the ancient Rome and what had happened back then and what life was like back then.

Happy that Italians have preserved them very well for the history buffs and tourists and visitors in general! Great visitor facilities!

You must reserve your visit time and are restricted to a 2 hour time limit.
The sculptures and artwork are stunning and you will not regret the time you spend here

Get off the beaten path and stroll around this interesting neighbourhood, stop in at a café if you can, I had the best pastry at one of them.

Right next to the Colosseum, another expansive area of Roman history - from the markets and trading areas to the emperor's palace and the temples to the goddesses. So much to see and learn here!

This centrally located structure is well worth the visit and is a reasonable price for entry.
Be prepared for a lengthy climb up the initial entryway and more stairs to get to the very top.
The views from the top are an excellent way to see much of Rome and The Vatican.
Try to AVOID the overpriced restaurant if you can, things are easily twice the cost of anywhere else.

A beautiful monument celebrating the unification of Italy. It's a bit of a trek up to the top but gorgeous views once you make it up.

Being the Bishop of Rome, this is technically the Pope's church. This beautiful edifice fronts a large piazza and the baptistry is around the back of the basilica. We went there for Sunday mass and it was stunning. Said in Italian, the area for worship is roped off from the rest of the nave. Pay close attention to the posted times as we arrived quite a bit earlier than we expected to.

Inside the large gilded ceiling alone is a sight to behold, besides the very large statues of saints and the cherubs all around. Less busy/crowded than the Vatican, it is most certainly worth a visit as it is only a five minute walk from the Colosseum.

How to even describe the vastness of the center of Rome. Wander though streets laden with history. You will walk where emperors, dictators, commoners, conquerors, liberators, and Pope's have walked over a couple of thousand years. The historical center of The Eternal City is beautiful anytime of the day or night and in any weather.

Enormous baroque church dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola has a main nave with a number of smaller chapels off to the side all the way down. There are a number of optical illusions to make the space seem even larger - one of the most magnificent trompe l'oeil ceilings in the main nave and a frescoed optical dome are just some of the points of architectural interest. The church has a number of papal funerary relics and some very beautiful artwork. One interesting point is that the church is open very late on Sunday night - if you want to avoid crowds that is the time to go. We were there around 10p and there were approximately 15 people in the entire church.
