Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Colosseum and Palatine Hill were such an amazing experience and steeped in history. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Rome.

A must see in Rome, so went to this place. Lucky there was not a long queue. We had to wait for 15 minutes to take a look inside. You don't have to pay to get inside

As a tourist you must see this beautiful fountain. Bring some coins with you so you can make a Wish. There are some rules with the coins, just look it up first before you throw it in the fountain.

We chose a rental apartment close to Piazza Navona because you can easily walk from there to all major sites in Rome, and also because the Piazza is so historic and beautiful. The Christmas Market was there during our December visit, with many vendors selling gifts and food. There was a puppet show, a historic carousel, and street performers. You can relax and have a drink, meal, or snack at one the many restaurants on the Piazza. The Baroque creations of Bernini and Borromini will amaze you.

Amazing to visit this place, so much history has gone before and with a guide all details will be revealed. So much to take in but to be able to walk in the footsteps of the ancient Romans is incredible.

Italy is really chic but this place, located far away from the center, distinguished for sure. Really nice atmosphere with graphic old buildings and shops.

Right next to the Colosseum, another expansive area of Roman history - from the markets and trading areas to the emperor's palace and the temples to the goddesses. So much to see and learn here!

This centrally located structure is well worth the visit and is a reasonable price for entry.
Be prepared for a lengthy climb up the initial entryway and more stairs to get to the very top.
The views from the top are an excellent way to see much of Rome and The Vatican.
Try to AVOID the overpriced restaurant if you can, things are easily twice the cost of anywhere else.

This is such a stunning monument, built more recently, architects are in dispute as to weather beautiful or not!

Being the Bishop of Rome, this is technically the Pope's church. This beautiful edifice fronts a large piazza and the baptistry is around the back of the basilica. We went there for Sunday mass and it was stunning. Said in Italian, the area for worship is roped off from the rest of the nave. Pay close attention to the posted times as we arrived quite a bit earlier than we expected to.

Inside the large gilded ceiling alone is a sight to behold, besides the very large statues of saints and the cherubs all around. Less busy/crowded than the Vatican, it is most certainly worth a visit as it is only a five minute walk from the Colosseum.

How to even describe the vastness of the center of Rome. Wander though streets laden with history. You will walk where emperors, dictators, commoners, conquerors, liberators, and Pope's have walked over a couple of thousand years. The historical center of The Eternal City is beautiful anytime of the day or night and in any weather.

Enormous baroque church dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola has a main nave with a number of smaller chapels off to the side all the way down. There are a number of optical illusions to make the space seem even larger - one of the most magnificent trompe l'oeil ceilings in the main nave and a frescoed optical dome are just some of the points of architectural interest. The church has a number of papal funerary relics and some very beautiful artwork. One interesting point is that the church is open very late on Sunday night - if you want to avoid crowds that is the time to go. We were there around 10p and there were approximately 15 people in the entire church.

Challenging to climb the steps to nowhere in particular. Nice view down main shopping street for wealthy buyers. Boat at bottom is silly but good place to rest.
