Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We paid for tickets via their website which was just entry but they have pillars with headphones you can use inside if you want.

We had walked past and our guide had told us about it so we didn’t get a tour. We just went to get a feel for inside and paid entry only.

Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain I have ever seen.
beautiful but to enjoy it and get some nice photos you have to go either early in the morning or around midnight
anyway, a fountain that leaves you breathless

We visited this a couple of times but by far the best was doing the underground tour which can be done just by walking into the booking office.

You can see part of the history at one end and then the office is just around the corner where you use headsets to listen to the information and they walk you over to the other side of the old arena and you go underground there as well

    well worth it. Interesting.

I really enjoyed this church. It was historically important and held many wonderful pieces of art. It's also quite large and takes a few hours to fully see.

Trastevere hosts Rome's oldest synagogue; is no longer used for worship by the Jewish community. In the 16th Century, Trastevere's numerous Jewish community was forced to cross the River Tiber and occupied Rome's Ghetto. Trastevere has narrow streets with historic houses; it's filled with bars and eateries. Locals and travelers flock to Trastevere's cobbled streets.

This is an amazing building. Spectacular from street level but amazing from the roof.
Climb the steps. Then pay €17 for entry to the museum and lift to the roof.

The Villa Borghese was splendid ! Me and my friends went there a few times during our holidays, to relax, read a book on a bench drained by the sun and we even used the miniboats on the lake which was a really fun and relaxed activity.
However, among all of those great things, we unfortunalety havn't been able to visit the Gallery Borghese ! There was too many people and we should have booked the visit weeks ago. So, if you want an advice : don't hesiate to book your tickets in advance !

The oldest and highest ranking of the four major papal basilicas, the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran serves as the seat of the bishop of Rome, the Pope, and is one of the Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome. The Loggia delle Benedizioni forms an integral part of the basilica. Inside the Basilica you can admire the beautiful high altar, ciborium, decorative ceiling, chapels, frescoes and mant statues of saints. A truly worthwhile experience.

A lovely area to walk around and just take in all the narrow cobbled streets and architecture that pops out when you peak around a corner!

We were here about 8am. No one was there, no scammers, no crowds. We could enjoy the steps which were built 1723-26 to link the square to the church. There are 3 terraces for the holy trinity. I know they are just steps, but the church on the top is pretty. Very close to the Metro Spagns stop. Not a must see, but nice in my opinion.

Rome has more beautiful churches than you can shake a stick at. So, when walking in the direction of Piazza Navona from Piazza della Rotonda, stay alert and you will encounter the Church of St. Louis of the French, in short the French Church of Rome. It would take too much space to describe the impressive interior, with the famous paintings and the stylish marble walls, so I have included some pictures. As this church is not world famous as the St. Peter in the Vatican or St. Peter in Vincoli with the Moses statue, the church is very serene inside without tourist groups, so sit down on a pew, empty your head and marvel at all that beauty.

This beautiful work of the master Bernini is the center piece of the unmatchable Piazza Navona. Not only is it a stunning artwork by itself, but Bernini was also a bit naughty. Look at the figure on the right in the picture. He has his arm raised to protect himself when the time had come that the church San Agnese in Agone, next to the fountain, would fall in. The master builder who had constructed the church was no friend of Bernini. Furthermore, the figure on the left pulls a cloth over his head, because he can't stand the ugly building in his sight. Yes, the architect of this building was also not a friend of Bernini and the current Pope at that time in the 17th Century has also something to do with this joke, I think. This fountain merits contemplation and Piazza Navona is the right spot for this.

The basilica is near the ancient ruins/coliseum so I recommend anyone visiting Monti to visit. It is free to enter, with no lines or security to worry about. Besides having Michaenlengo's famous Moses sculpture, it has St. Peter's chains and the "potential" bodies of the 7 sons mentioned in Maccabees. Bring Euro coins to donate to certain displays for more information about each relic. It's beautiful but empty, which was a nice break from the crowds.

One of the best churches in Rome and too often overlooked. Be sure to visit and combine with a lovely lunch in one of the many nearby trattoria.
