Nothing quite prepares you for the first glimpse of the colosseum, it is magnificent in every way imaginable.
Staff are helpful, and it is very informative and well laid out for tourists, stairs are steep though!!
    Amazing photographs here, just amazing!

One of the most recognizable and preserved ancient buildings in Rome - a temple to the Roman Gods and Goddesses.

Beautiful fountain, sunny day, only diminished by the thousands packed into the small piazza. Nice to see and experience but don't expect a leisurely artistic visit. Go later in the day or early morning.

Absolutely spectacular. Gorgeous views of the Vatican from the top, as well as the intricate art of the duomo.

Very nice walk to this piazza. About 20 minutes walk from the Uffizi Gallery. Good climb up the paths and stairs through the park to get to the top. Great views of the city and surrounding countryside. Worth the effort if you want the exercise, or take the bus or a taxi if you just want the views.

This museum is deliberate, well paced and easy to enjoy. The audio guide was a huge bonus; type in the number of a painting you are interested in, and a concise interpretation follows. The rooms are grouped in a clear manner, and they house many noteworthy works.

Very convenient to the train station. Buy tickets first. Can be crowded, but great views. See all kinds of boat traffic.

Our visit to the Vatican museums, was amazing, I was in awe of the sheer size of some of the art and pieces. The Sistine Chapel took my breath away, a moment I’ll never forget. Even if you’re not a religious person, the Vatican museums are outstanding, so beautiful.

In the Piazza Navona (a large and popular square) is the Four Rivers Fountain by Bernini. Topped with an Egyptian style obelisk, it has four enormous statues that represent river gods from the four quarters of the world.

Just the most amazing place, incredible, and a must-see in my opinion. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been, and a fitting environment for the Veiled Christ. In itself this is an awe-inspiring piece of art that shows the craftsmanship of the sculptor. Even now with all the modern tools and equipment available to us, I think it would be hard to match for skill. There are also other statues that are wonderful as well. Well worth the entrance fee. I am glad photos are not allowed as this would detrat from the experience of being in such a wonderul space.

    An absolute must do !!
    This place is incredible.

I would recommend starting the day with a guided tour so get in lots of facts and information about Pompeii. It’s impossible to do everywhere in one day so it’s useful to start off with highlights and recommendations on where to go. We went with Askos tours and loved them.

We spent 2 hours with the tour and then wondered for 3 hours by ourselves afterwards. Would not want to rush to do Mount Vesuvius or Herculaneum before / afterwards.

I would recommend visiting a viewpoint, a grand Roman home (e.g. House of Loreius Tiburtinus), and the amphitheatre. Overall just wonder around and you will stumble upon amazing sights.

As we went in January, it was fairly quiet and we were told it gets up to 10,000 people in the summer months which does seem hellish. Would definitely recommend going in the off season.

There were paths marked out that were accessible to wheelchair users, but this was less than half of the area.

Great food, family ran restaurant. Home cooked dessert was incredible. One of the best meals we've had start to finish in Italy!
