Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Toni F3 contributionsA must do whilst in Madrid. We had four days in Madrid and visited the park on two separate occasions. A beautiful place to spend an hour or more enjoying a relaxing walk or taking a rowing boat out if you’re feeling a bit more energetic! You can book the rowing boats in advance on the day you’re attending which will save you queue time and also help grab the 45 minute slot you would like if you’re restricted on when you can visit. Retiro metro station has an underpass which takes you directly into the park too..Written 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - solotraveller824London, UK31 contributionsHaving researched beforehand the paintings I wanted to see, I felt we made the most of the visit rather than feeling overwhelmed by so much wonderful art. It was the best of experiences.Written 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- chocolate123Switzerland216 contributionsHmm - some rooms are really nice but perhaps I have seen to many palaces and are a bit tired? I liked the Royal Gallery better (a lot less people, too).
If you have tour groups in front/behind you it can get squeezy in some rooms.
There are small information boards in Spanish and English in every room.
Facts: Ticket prices are confusing on the website. You can visit the palace on your own, without a tour. You can buy an audio-guide. Having a prepaid ticket does NOT mean you get necessarily in faster! I just walked in while there was a cue for the prepaid tickets.
The entrance is narrow so you might not see that there are actually two cues (if there are any): left side for prepaid, right side without.
If you check the prepay website you get an idea how full the place is.
There are some lockers in this ticket area but there are a lot more in the actual palace on the left side.
The armory is on the gated side on the left and was closed. This information you only find out once you stand in front of it! Nothing said on the website nor at the ticket office.
You may take photos. I found the staff friendly and speaking English (as we know is all not a given).Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Standing on the pitch and imagining the roaring crowds gave us goosebumps. We loved learning about Real Madrid’s rich history. Whether you're a football fan or not, this place is a must-see for its grandeur and passion!Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BekahHomburg, Germany22 contributionsThis Mercado has so many great choices to enjoy amazing food and drinks! Everything we tried was incredible! I really enjoyed the spicy chorizo empanadas, dumplings, and sangria!Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barbara BCounty Antrim, UK12 contributionsWe enjoyed window shopping, indulging in delicious tapas, and soaking up the lively street performances. As night fell, the lights transformed the street into a dazzling spectacle.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chocolate123Switzerland216 contributionsI went to see the special exhibition about Gabriele Münter and liked it very much. You might want to check the prepay website to find out when there are more/less people in it.
At the end there is a documentary, German spoken with English and Spanish subtitles.
There are no lockers but a free staffed cloakroom.
The toilets (not that obvious) are downstairs on the left of the building right in front of the shop.
The staff is friendly and speaks English.Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
