We took the advice from Rick Steve's book and bought our cable car tickets at the booth to the left side before going through Gibraltar customs. It includes a shuttle bus to the cable car. This worked out well but the bus stop to catch the bus after clearing customs is poorly marked.

Once we got to the cable car we got in the prepaid line which saved some time. It was not too crowded but we still had to wait almost 30 mins until we got a car up.

We chose a one-way ticket with the nature reserve and planned to hike down after seeing the sights. Once we got to the top it wasn't two minutes before some stupid tourist set down their pack to take a monkey picture and the monkey stole the food out of their pack. This despite the dozens of pictures and warnings about the monkeys' aggressive behavior.

Anyway on this clear day the views were great. We then started to explore the different sites that are part of the reserve. Some are quite a long distance with many ups and downs. Also it is not always well marked despite the signs - it was confusing at times. On some of the roads the endless stream of taxi tours made for an unpleasant hike.

We were totally surprised by St. Michael's Cave - it was beautiful. We walked across the suspension bridge, the Skywalk and saw a number of the "batteries". We decided the walk to the Siege Tunnels was too far since we needed to hike down to town and then all the way out to the border to our accommodations in La Linea. I am sure we could have caught a bus but we walked it...

If you go to Gibraltar you have to go up on the Rock (if the winds don't shut down the lift).

A great experience as soon as you go in and wonder at the natural formations that are in there against the coloured lights.
One could stand there for so long and see something different each time.
The light show is well worth seeing as well.
Photos are good and not a bad price.
    Recommended.
    Enjoy.

Long and interesting history of these tunnels. Built roughly 1779 by the English and added to and transformed over time. There are many information boards explaining the history and showing cannons etc. If you're into war history- this is a fascinating place to visit! The tunnels are long and a good wind passage. There are some good views along teh walk.

Started from top; a reasonable descent with great sweeping views of the Strait of Gibraltar and Africa. trail in good condition. If you can walk up the Rock using the service road, you should have no problem following the Steps to the bottom

It is next to cable car - we go to the garden because of long queue for cable car. But worth it to stroll between the trees, bushes, flowers... Here is also a yard for children.

The Ape's Den is located on the way down towards the city. It's another great place to see the monkeys (the other place is next to the feeding station on the top). Make sure all your food is inside closed packs
