Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've seen two shows here. One was spanish guitar, and the other was spanish guitar with flamenco. Both were amazing. I love spanish guitar, and the performers here were amazing. The theater itself is gorgeous.

Any time I'm in Barcelona, I check the schedule here to see if there is anything that interests me. I highly recommend it.

Particularly as a contrast to La Sagrada Familia, this extraordinary (and extraordinarily old) Gothic cathedral is really a beautiful place to just go and sit. The soaring interior is plain but, well, soaring and such decorative elements as the doors and the medallions on the ceiling are well worth a look. The original rose window was destroyed in an earthquake but the "new" one that's there dates from the 15th century! It was hot when we were there and we didn't climb the tower but definitely do that if you're there in cooler months.

Set just steps away from the old town Barrio Gotico this is a big public park.
It has a great layout consisting of many walking paths, a boat lake and terrific monument-fountain in one of its corners.
However, the park is full (specially close to the fountain) of sketchy people drinking around and selling trinkets. with heavy weed smell.

El Born is an old historic quarter in downtown Barcelona. Walking its maze of narrow winding streets will reward you with plenty of small designer shops, tapas bars, small tiny restaurants,....
Two amazing attractions are within this barrio: the Santa Maria del Mar Basilica and the Picasso museum.

Lots of sketches and earlier works. Some nice later pieces but none of the famous masterpieces. A large portion was dedicated to photos of Picasso taken by a photographer friend. Interesting way to spend an hour (or much longer if you are a big fan).

This was my third time in Barcelona, but the very first I've visited this market under its distinctive curved roof. It is set in a quieter part of Barcelona old town, not that much frequented by tourists.
I found the market being cheaper and cleaner than the touristy Boqueria on Rambla. Also I walked the stalls in peace not being pushed by hundreds of tourists, so could enjoy their offer, specially the famous jamon.

Barcelona's Triumphal Arch was built for the 1888 World Expo in red brick with strong Moorish influence.
It is in a quieter part of old town lined with palm trees on a path leading to beautiful Park de la Ciutadela. It's a quick photo op attraction and you'll probably find some street performers around.

This really majestic monumental fountain is set in the Parc de la Ciutadella, very close to the red brick Triumphal Arch.
Beside the fountain the park is beautiful as well, with many walking paths and boats to hire on a small central lake.
However, I deduct one star for many sketchy people around selling trinkets, drinking and smoking weed, as well homeless sleeping around.

Very nice small museum with very good quality modern art, really interesting and enjoyable. We only had time to visit two of the three floors but really enjoyed it, one can probably see the entire museum in less than two hours.

We were there for the opera recital, which was also very nice, one hour of singing by a young opera singer and with that ticket we were allowed to also visit the museum, which made for a great afternoon. Also, if you are visiting the museum you may be able to attend the recital with your museum ticket.

Please note the opera recitals arec only available during certain days and seasons.

An old iron and glass market building that has excavated extensive medieval remains from before 1700. The narrow streets, lanes and buildings are all there. History panels clarify the great division between Catalunya and the rest of Spain. there are guided tours and even a children's exploratory dig site. Interesting for sure and free.

We actually based a visit off a previous trip advisor review, we had the absolute best time, there are so many different animals there it really made for a fun day for two grown adults lol, every animal imaginable is there, the only reason I didn’t get five stars is because the restaurant only offered beer lol and I was looking for a cocktail, I highly recommend it as something to do if you’re in the city

While the Gothic quarter is the most famous in Barcelona, Ribera is likewise the similar historic district with a maze of narrow streets and alleys.
So, don't limit yourself, but walk further down - among many local cafes, bars, restaurants,...big attractions like Basilica Santa Maria del Mar and Picasso museum await you.

This is a beautifully presented collection of sculpture and other artifacts from indigenous cultures. The building is old and beautiful, please be sure to look up and admire the ceilings. The permanent collection has 31 rooms, representing most native peoples of the world, or at least those that produced art. There also will be a temporary exhibition, at the moment it focuses on aboriginal art from Australia. As so many others have noted this museum is far better than the neighboring Picasso Museum, and is much less crowded. There are detailed explanations about the cultures presented in English, Spanish, and Catalan. Admission is free if you have the Barcelona card. Highly recommended.

This was just ok. The videos on the history of chocolate were good but the chocolate sculptures have seen better days. The actual chocolate you buy there was good. My kids ran through this quickly (20-30 min) after the Picasso museum….
